Regarding Congo, as the most criminal country on the planet, an armed conflict has been going on there for many years. The military is forced to confront numerous force groups, including the United Democratic Forces, based in neighboring Uganda. The State Army of the Congo periodically manages to conduct successful military operations against militants, but they are not able to control the situation in the eastern provinces on an ongoing basis, as a result of which individual areas are constantly under the control of armed groups.
The Global Organized Crime Index is the result of a two-year effort to assess crime rates and resilience in all 193 UN member states. It is hoped that thanks to these data, the index will help develop a truly global response to the widespread threat of transnational organized crime, the explanatory note to the study says.[1] |
