2025: Growth of tourist flow of the Golden Ring of Russia by 5.2% to 24 million people
At the end of 2025, the total tourist flow of eight regions of the Golden Ring of Russia project reached 24 million people, which is 5.2% higher than the previous year. These data from the report of the Center for Strategic Research (CSR), prepared on the basis of preliminary data from Rosstat, were released on February 10, 2026.
The study covers statistics of registered tourists in collective accommodation facilities (DAC). The volume of overnight tourists amounted to 27% of the total number of domestic trips around the country. The dynamics of tourist flow on the route exceeded the average Russian level (4.1%).
Key centers of attraction on the Golden Ring of Russia route:
- Moscow - 51.8% of all trips, the average length of stay is 5.3 nights;
- Tver region (+ 48.2% compared to 2024);
- Vladimir region (+ 24.1% compared to 2024);
- Kostroma region (+ 21.3% compared to 2024).
The expansion of the geography of the project due to the inclusion of the Nizhny Novgorod and Tver regions, according to the CSR, provided an additional influx of travelers.
A decrease in the number of posted tourists was noted in the Ivanovo region (-4.8 thousand people) and the Moscow region (-21 thousand people). In the CSR, negative dynamics are associated with a high base effect and technical accounting features, not excluding adjustments to indicators after final data processing.
The international segment is showing outstripping growth. In 2025, the regions of the Golden Ring received 2.8 million foreign guests. The increase in tourist flow from abroad amounted to 19.3%, which is 3.7 times higher than the total dynamics along the route and exceeds the average Russian pace (14.9%). The Golden Ring accounts for 59.4% of all foreign tourist arrivals in Russia.
The maximum increase in the interest of foreigners was recorded in the Moscow region (+ 79% by 2024). Moscow increased the reception of foreign tourists by 16.1%, the Vladimir region - by 13.7%. Experts of the CSR state that the Golden Ring retains the status of an unconditional leader among tourist destinations in Russia in terms of the volume of inbound tourist flow[1][2]
