For some of them, the main task of 2024 will be migration from products no longer supported by foreign vendors to Russian solutions.
Companies that have remained on foreign software or have not yet decided to switch to domestic products, in the bulk, belong to representatives of the middle level with AWS up to 500 units. First of all, large companies with the number of AWS 500 + are imported. Thus, the results of the study show that the process of import substitution and the transition from foreign solutions is still active and will continue in 2024.
It is noteworthy that, despite the difficult economic situation, about half of the respondents (44%) announced the preservation of funding for business automation. At the same time, a third of the study participants plan to increase the budget for automation in 2024.

Delving into plans for the development of the IT system sector for 2024, experts Konica Minolta note the dependence of companies' preferences on their industry specifics. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has developed a methodology for assessing the digital maturity of industrial enterprises
The expert group of the Ministry of Industrial Trade of the Russian Federation has developed a methodology for assessing the digital maturity of industrial enterprises, the Russian Information Agency reported to TASS in May 2021. In 2021, it will become available to industry enterprises on the platform of the state information system of industry.
Enterprises will have wide access to the methodology for assessing the level of digital maturity, which will ensure the effective implementation of IT tools, as well as assess the need for government support in solving current problems.
The methodology was approved in November 2019 at a meeting of the Digital Industry industry working group within the framework of the Digital Economy national project.
It was also decided to launch the first stage of the methodology implementation at Russian industrial enterprises. The methodology will allow enterprises to prepare a basis for digital transformation and determine participation in state support programs.
SAP and Deloitte assessed the level of digital maturity in Russian companies
On March 22, 2021, SAP and Deloitte presented the results of a joint study, the purpose of which is to assess the digital maturity of Russian companies. The survey was attended by heads of leading organizations in the banking sector, the retail and consumer goods sector, the telecommunications industry, the fuel and energy complex, the automotive, metallurgical and mining industries, the mechanical engineering industry, the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. In the first wave of the study, more than 50 of the largest companies in Russia were interviewed.
As reported, during the study, experts identified the current state, subsequent steps and the main barriers to business transformation of the participants in the considered sectors of the economy. Among the main conclusions of the study are the following:
- Traditionally, B2C segment industries exhibit a higher level of digital maturity compared to B2B through rapid technology adaptation in a competitive consumer market.
- Like foreign companies, Russian business as a whole has developed an understanding of its digital strategy and the impact of technologies on its implementation.
- As of March 2021, the first priority for most companies in Russia is the effective introduction of digital initiatives in the processes of interaction with the client and operational activities.
- The main barrier to digitalization is the unwillingness to change the companies themselves and, in particular, their corporate culture.
The study used Deloitte's international assessment methodology aimed at studying five areas of companies' activities: strategic initiatives, technology application, operating activities, customer experience and corporate culture.
Based on the analysis of the survey results, analysts have developed a number of proposals for each of the key areas of work, which are proposed to be considered by the business:
- To create an understanding of customers and optimize the quality of interaction with them, it is not enough to use classic CRM systems. Customer experience management systems that are next-class solutions and require competencies and technologies should be used.
- To optimize the efficiency of operating activities, it is necessary to introduce technologies such as blockchain, machine learning, big data, etc. It is they who can become the main driver of positive changes.
- The actual problem of organizational barriers can be solved by introducing the role of digital ambassadors in companies, involving the largest number of employees in the process and developing their digital competencies, as well as by forming and maintaining a culture of constant experiment and business readiness for risk.
- In addition, digitalization scenarios should be created that will involve external partners[1] organization[2] this process].
The competitive external environment becomes the main driver of changes for industries, which is why banks, telecom, retail are digitalized much faster. They need to look for other approaches to doing business, introduce international practices in order to remain competitive in the market. A significant barrier to transformation is the introduction of organizational changes. And here we see great potential in increasing digital competencies not only among IT specialists. It is necessary to convey to employees the importance of information as an asset that creates value for the company. |
The introduction of digital initiatives requires a significant change in corporate culture, which was confirmed as part of our research. Instead of requiring top-down initiatives, management needs to encourage its employees to become more involved in digital transformation. This can be achieved, among other things, by allowing employees to play a more active role in generating ideas and providing a flexible working environment where everyone can interact within cross-functional commands. At the same time, comprehensive training programs will help implement updated work paradigms, including a "right to mistake" culture. commented Jörg Dorler, Deloitte Department Partner consulting |
PwC and Abbyy first measured Digital IQ of Russian business
Most large companies in Russia believe that they do not use the possibilities of technology and innovation by 100%. Russian companies estimate their level of digital maturity (Digital IQ) by 2.8 points out of 5. Such data were presented on February 2, 2021 by Abbyy and PwC following a joint study by Digital IQ 2020, conducted among representatives of large businesses.
The most promising technology for increasing digital intelligence in the next two years, according to the study participants, will be the Process Mining platforms: the demand for these systems may increase by 140%. This interest in solutions is due to the fact that they allow you to determine the potential effectiveness of IT projects and predict the return on investment from technologies.
The study was conducted at the end of 2020, more than 100 executives and specialists from industrial enterprises, banks, telecommunications companies, transport and logistics took part in it. Respondents drew up a portrait of an "ideal digital company." Thus, 81% of respondents believe that these are organizations that actively integrate technologies into products and services. 80% believe that digital leaders use IT solutions to interact with customers. 77% noted that companies with a high level of digital maturity use technology to make decisions and improve business processes. More than half of respondents assess digitalization as a continuous process of improving business efficiency. This is one of the reasons why, even at the height of the pandemic and economic downturn, 94% of companies did not cut budgets for innovative projects.
To develop Digital IQ, respondents use artificial intelligence (AI), robots and the Internet of Things. Most of the study participants reported that in 2021 they are going to increase investment in solutions for automation and robotization of processes. Cloud services were in second place in priority. In third place is the modernization of infrastructure to ensure cybersecurity and the development of direct sales channels.
"A special place in the ranking of promising developments is occupied by intellectual analysis of business processes - these are the technologies that will be most in demand in the next two years. According to our data, by 2023 the demand for Process Mining and Process Intelligence platforms in Russia will grow by 140%. This is due to the fact that many market participants want to gradually move from reports and surveys to intelligent Process Mining systems with predictive analytics elements. This will allow them to more accurately understand how their business processes are arranged, where the main points of growth and which projects will bring them the greatest profit, "said Alexey Okishev, partner, head of technology practice at PwC Russia. |
"Our research has shown that while representatives of different market segments assess the level of their digital maturity in different ways, they agree that in order to develop a business, it is necessary to constantly introduce promising technologies, improve the quality of service and automate routine tasks, as well as use modern tools to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of projects. We at Abbyy stand in solidarity with the experts interviewed. Digital leaders need solutions to help them gain a complete understanding of business processes and manage vast amounts of data. They will allow companies to take Digital IQ to a new level, "said Dmitry Shushkin, CEO of Abbyy Russia. |
