The share of domestic monitors in the Russian market reached 10%
The share of domestic monitors in the Russian market in the first three months of 2024 reached 10%. Such data on July 8, 2024 was presented by the company's analysts, OCS Distribution stressing that two years ago this figure did not exceed 1%. The main Russian manufacturers leading in this segment were Beshtau"," Graviton",," and Aquarius. Delta Computers LightCom
According to OCS Distribution, large companies from the energy and oil and gas sectors, construction and housing and communal services, as well as financial organizations showed significant interest in Russian monitors. Alexander Loginov, Director of the OCS Distribution Personal Systems Department, noted that corporate customers are increasingly choosing Russian devices.
In the first Russia quarter of 2024, monitor sales increased by a third compared to the same period last year. According to analysts, 873,000 GfK monitors worth 14.2 billion were sold in the country during this period. rubles According to the publication "," Sheets the largest popularity among Russian consumers in the segment of small and medium-sized businesses and retail is preserved by Taiwan, Acer whose devices continue to enter the market through parallel import channels. Acer's share in this segment increased to 40%.
Loginov explained the growth in demand for monitors by the fact that the work cycle of these devices exceeds the term of the current performance of personal computers and workstations. Companies periodically update devices purchased several years ago, especially those that were purchased before 2020. The increase in sales was also influenced by the growth of production capacity in Russia and the creation of new jobs.
Another factor contributing to the growth in demand was the transition to monitors with large diagonals. As the complexity of content increases, devices with a small screen become less in demand. According to OCS, 24-inch monitors now account for up to 46% of all sales, displacing 22-inch models from the market. In the future, monitors with a diagonal of 27 inches or more will become the most popular.[1]
2023
Monitor sales growth by 19% to 3.62 million units
The volume of the Russian computer monitor market in 2023 reached 3.62 million units, which is 19% more than a year earlier, when the supply of this equipment was measured at 3.05 million units. This was reported in February 2024 by the research company ITResearch.
According to analysts, the growth rate of monitor sales in the Russian Federation at the end of 2023 was expected. Earlier in 2023, experts said that there would be significant growth in the market, if only because of the need to support the installed equipment base.
According to ITResearch estimates, Acer, MSI, AOC and Philips became the largest manufacturers of PC monitors in Russia (by the number of devices shipped) in 2023. Analysts do not specify the shares of brands.
According to ITResearch, Acer has held the lead for the last seven months of 2023. Supplies also continue to be restored LG , Samsung which allows vendors to pull themselves up to the leading group. In total, the group of these companies accounted for about 53.5% of the market, which is even less than a month earlier. Analysts characterize the Russian computer monitor market as highly fragmented: by the end of 2023, about 50 brands were represented on it, which is "abnormally large for a mature market."
ITResearch also reported that in October-December 2023, slightly more than 1 million monitors were sold in Russia, which is 2% less than in the same period in 2022. The decline was largely due to the high performance of the fourth quarter of 2022: then there was an active recovery after the collapse in the first half of 2022. Experts also associate some market decline with a certain overstocking, as well as with a high dollar exchange rate, which makes ruble prices for monitors not very attractive.[2]
Market volume growth in the third quarter by 19% to 870 thousand units
The volume of the Russian computer monitor market in the third quarter of 2023 increased by 19% compared to the same period in 2022 and reached 870 thousand units. At the same time, in comparison with July-September 2021, sales decreased by 9%, which does not allow us to talk about a complete recovery of the market, according to a study by the analytical company ITResearch (published at the end of September 2023).
In September 2023, about 343 thousand monitors were sold in the Russian Federation for $70 million, which is about 57% more than a year ago (in August 2023, positive dynamics were measured + 35%). As before, the main growth of the market was due to the products of the second or third echelon, while a group of traditional leaders added "only" about 35%, experts say.
The leaders of the Russian monitor market in September 2023 were companies, Acer, and AOC MSI (Philips listed in alphabetical order), which accounted for about 63% of sales. In September, Acer noticeably added and managed to significantly break away from competitors. They also continue to recover and, LG Samsung pulling up to the leading group, the report noted.
According to ITResearch, in the second quarter of 2023, 794 thousand devices worth $177 million were sold on the Russian monitor market. The indicators of the same period of 2022 were exceeded by 70 and 46%, respectively.
Sales of computer monitors Russia in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 30% compared to the same period of the previous year, writes Forbes with reference to the data F+ tech"-." Marvell In total, 909,326 monitors worth 13.7 billion were sold in January-March 2023. rubles In the first quarter of 2022, 699,006 monitors worth 12.1 billion rubles were sold.[3]
2020: Growth of the Russian monitor market by 13%, to just under 4 million units
The volume of the Russian computer monitor market at the end of 2020 amounted to just under 4 million units - about 3 thousand devices sold were not enough for this figure. This was reported in the analytical company ITResearch.
According to experts, in 2020, 13.1% more were sold in the Russian Federation than a year earlier. At the same time, the researchers expected an increase of 10%. In money, the dynamics turned out to be almost the same (+ 13.2%), and the market volume - $667.5 million.
The rise of the Russian monitor market in ITResearch was associated with a surge in demand for home computers, which, in turn, was caused by a massive transition to a remote learning and work format due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. This factor was able to compensate for the drop in monitor sales in the corporate sector.
Analysts also pay attention to high sales of gaming monitors and a shift in demand towards models with 24-inch displays (experts call this segment "mainstream"). All this made it possible to keep the weighted average cost of the devices quite high, the study says.
AOC was named the leader of the Russian monitor market at the end of 2020. Philips is in second place, Acer is in third place. Next comes Samsung. These manufacturers accounted for more than half (50.7%) of PC monitor sales in 2020, which, according to analysts, is a fairly low indicator: the intensity of competition in the monitor market is characterized as high.
According to ITResearch, AOC was the leader in the gaming monitor segment with a share of about 25%, but Acer, LG and Samsung competed strongly with AOC at different periods of 2020. If you look at gaming monitors with a diagonal above 27 inches, then AOC also feels quite confident there, if not leading, then entering the leading three in almost all key diagonals, analysts added.[4]
