The volume of the taxi ordering services market in Moscow and the Moscow region for the year increased by 9.3% to 87.9 billion rubles
On October 27, 2025, GuideMarket published calculations made on the basis of data from Rosstat and the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation: in 2024, the volume of the taxi ordering services market in Moscow and the Moscow region grew by 9.3% compared to 2023, reaching 87.9 billion rubles.
Experts note the radical transformation of the taxi market in the capital region over the past decade: from the field of traditional transportation, it has turned into a high-tech segment of the digital ecosystem of the metropolis.
Aggregators - digital platforms that connect drivers and passengers - played a key role in this transformation. According to the operators surveyed by RBC, the share of the aggregator premium, formed at the expense of the commission paid by drivers for using the service, averaged 19-20% of the total market volume in 2024.
Experts highlight several factors that ensured stable market growth in monetary terms:
- the ubiquity of mobile applications;
- expansion of the tariff line;
- transfer of settlements to a non-cash basis;
- growth in the number of corporate clients.
Analysts consider the main achievement to improve user experience by digitalizing dispatching, optimizing routes and intelligent order distribution algorithms.
Analysts associate the next stage in the development of the industry with key trends:
- greening - the introduction of electric vehicles and hybrids;
- digitalization - using big data and predictive analytics;
- diversification - integration with car sharing and public transport.
The future of the taxi market in the capital region, RBC summarizes, will be determined by further automation, platform development and the introduction of "green" technologies, which will make urban transport even more convenient and safe.[1]
Moscow Department of Transport named the shares of taxi aggregators in the capital
transport Moscow The department disclosed information on the distribution of market shares between taxi aggregators in the capital. According to the presented data, the service "" Yandex Go occupies a dominant position in the market, controlling 96% of taxi orders through mobile applications. This became known in October 2024.
According to RBC, this information is contained in the April presentation of the Moscow Department of Transport. In addition to Yandex Go, other players are present in the Moscow taxi market, but their shares are much smaller. Thus, the Drivee service occupies 3% of the market, Citymobil - 0.86%, and Maxim - 0.14%.
Market experts note that the share of Yandex Go could grow even more by the end of August 2024, reaching 98-99%. This is a significant increase compared to November 2020, when the service controlled 70.8% of the market.
The representative of the Moscow Department of Transport confirmed the leading position of Yandex Go among aggregators, but refused to disclose the exact figures. He also noted that about 15 thousand carriers and 28 taxi ordering services operate in the capital's taxi market.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia previously expressed concern about the dominant position of Yandex Go in the market. In February 2024, the department announced "serious comments" on the service pricing algorithm. The FAS also requested a reduction in the commission for carriers, which was about 28%.
In response to the requirements of the regulator, Yandex announced plans to reduce the commission for drivers during periods of high demand. The company also launched a new taxi ordering service under the Lucky brand, which is positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Yandex Go economy class.
Lawyers note that the monopolization of the taxi market can have negative consequences for consumers and carriers. However, some experts point to the possible benefits of unified management, such as general safety and quality of service standards.[2]

The first service of water electric taxi is launched in Moscow
On April 12, 2024, it became known that the first business and premium water electric taxi service was being created in Moscow. Residents and guests of the Russian capital will be able to quickly get along the river to the desired point of the city, bypassing traffic jams.
According to the Kommersant newspaper, Ilya Cheprasov, general director of the development company Forma, spoke about the project. As part of the service, it is planned to use small boats with an electric power plant. For them, a pontoon pier will be built under the development program of the former industrial zone "South Port." At the first stage, this pier will be designed for four taxi boats. In the future, it will be possible to moor its own boats and yachts there - such a service, according to the owner of Baikal Yachts Group Sergey Gmyra, will be in significant demand.
Kirill Yankov, chairman of the interregional public organization "Union of Passengers," believes that the water electric taxi service in Moscow will be in demand primarily as a walking aid. The fact is that the cost of crossing the water is expected to be significantly higher compared to a regular road trip.
| The only route of Moscow of the crossing type - between the Northern River Station and Tushino - is more often used by people in business. The water taxi, I think, will have a mostly walking character. That is, in very rare cases, this option will be used for business trips, says Yankov. |
It is noted that in the industrial zone "South Port" it is planned to create several berths for light-engine vessels, a heated pontoon pool, a summer beach and a diverse sports and entertainment infrastructure on the embankment. More than 1 billion rubles will be invested in the construction of water infrastructure. They expect to completely update the water area by 2030.[3]
