2025: The volume of weapons production in Ukraine for the year increased by 47% and reached $4.2 billion

In 2025, the production of weapons in Ukraine in monetary terms reached 180 billion hryvnia (about $4.2 billion at the exchange rate on February 12, 2026). This is 47% more compared to the previous year, when the sector was estimated at 122 billion hryvnia. This was announced in early January 2026 by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is noted that significant growth is due to the expansion of production capacities and an increase in the workload of enterprises. The number of government contracts for the production of weapons in 2025 jumped by more than 50%.

It is emphasized that veterans play a special role in the development of the sector. In Ukroboronprom (the association of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine under state management), the development of personnel potential and social integration of military personnel continues. More than 1000 veterans work in the structure of the society. In addition, work has been intensified on cooperation with educational institutions in order to train new specialists.

At the same time, Rustem Umerov, secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said that the first Ukrainian companies received permits for controlled exports of military products. According to him, the capabilities of the production of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex in the areas of drones and electronic warfare exceed the volume of internal purchases for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and therefore the "coordinated export" of these types of products will attract investments in the industry. The permits were approved by the interdepartmental commission on the policy of military-technical cooperation and export control.[1]
