xDSL
Digital Subscriber Line, digital subscriber line - family of the technologies allowing to create allocate circuits on the basis of telephone lines. At the organization of a communication channel laying of an additional cable or hardware upgrade is not required. HDSL technologies allow to perform high-speed data transmission and are used generally for the organization of Internet access.
In xDSL abbreviation the character "x" designates the first character in the name of specific technology. Main types of technologies of the xDSL family:
- ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is an asymmetric digital subscriber line, provides unequal data transfer rate of the entering and outgoing flow. Speed of the entering flow is higher than the speed of outgoing.
- UADSL (Universal of ADSL) is a universal asymmetric digital subscriber line. Is the simplified analog of ADSL.
- RADSL (Rate Adaptive Digital Subscriber Line) is a digital subscriber line with adaptation of speed. Is modification of ADSL technology.
- HDSL (High Data Rate Digital Subscriber Line) is a high-speed digital subscriber line.
- SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line) is a symmetric digital subscriber line, provides identical data transfer rate of the entering and outgoing flow. Is HDSL technology option.
- VDSL (Very-high data rate Digital Subscriber Line) is a very high bit-rate digital subscriber line.
In addition to the technologies stated above are used now: IDSL (ISDN Digital Subscriber Line), MSDSL (Multirate Single pair Digital Subscriber Line), PDSL (Power line Digital Subscriber Line), SHDSL (Single-pair High-speed Digital Subscriber Line).
