4A Games — the Ukrainian developer of computer games founded in 2006. The most known products of studio — Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light and Metro Exodus (shooter from the first person, his action starts in ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow). Company 4A Games is called in honor of four founders whose names begin on letter "A": Andrey Prokhorov, Andrey Tkachenko, Alexander (Oles) Shishkovtsov and Alexander Maksimchuk.
History
2020: Embracer Group purchased 4A of Games for $36 million
In the middle of August, 2020 Embracer Group announced acquisition 4A of Games for $36 million. The transaction is paid with own means and actions of the buyer and concluded through "subsidiary" of the Swedish company — Saber Interactive.
A half of stocks of Embracer, the provided agreement, will be available to owners 4A of Games in a year after execution of the transaction, a half more – in two years. According to the agreement, in case of accomplishment of particular purposes owners 4A of Games will receive $35 million more within five years. About what conditions there is a speech, it is not specified.
To the middle of August, 2020 in the state 4A Games is 150 employees working at studios on Malta and in Kiev.
After the transaction in 4A Games will continue to work on the franchize Metro (in particular, on a multiplayer). Also in studio reported that are ready to release still AAA-games in the near future.
Embracer Group is an excellent partner for our company. Together we will continue to pave The Path to the Future of a series of the Metro shooters. It in particular concerns the multi-user future. In addition we have plans for new AAA projects — reported in company 4A Games. |
In addition to 4A Games, the Embracer Group group purchased some more game studios, including DECA Games, Pow Wow Entertainment, Sola Media, Rare Earth Games, Vermila Studios, New World Interactive, Palindrome Interactive.[1]
