Apostera is a Ukrainian automotive software developer. The startup was founded by 12 like-minded people who worked together at Luxoft, among them Andrei Golubinsky, Viktor Sdobnikov and Olga Mirkina. In 2017, Ukrainians registered Apostera in Munich, as they immediately aimed at the German market. The first customer of Apostera was Audi.
History
2022: Harman International bought Apostera
On February 10, 2022, Harman International, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, bought the Ukrainian developer of mixed reality systems Apostera. The parties did not disclose the details of the transaction, but at the end of 2021, investors estimated the company at €40-50 million.
American Harman International designs and develops electronics-related products. The company also specializes in introducing technologies for the automotive, consumer and corporate markets. According to the press release, Harman International aims to ensure the speed and flexibility of consumer technologies in cars, as well as the reliability and performance of automotive class solutions.
Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) software solutions from Apostera will expand Harman International's automotive product offerings and bring the company to the forefront of automotive AR/MR development. Apostera's revenue at the end of 2020 is €4 million, and in 2021 the company expected to increase sales to €6 million. Since 2017, Apostera has raised $1 million in venture capital investments from SMRK and ICU Ventures funds. Apostera employees will join Harman as part of the company's automotive division.
