Solid Power — developer of solid-state rechargeable accumulators which in the long term can replace Li-ion batteries. The batteries developed by a startup are safer ( it is not necessary to use flammable liquid electrolytes and separators), twice-three times more capacious (solid electrolytes can perform at the same time function of the separator) and cheap in production (disposal of liquid electrolyte will allow to use lithium - metallic anodes).

2018: Attraction of $20 million investments
On September 10, 2018 the Solid Power company announced attraction of $20 million investments. Samsung, Hyundai Cradle, Sanoh Industria and Solvay invested in a startup , and several months began to give earlier financial and technology support of Solid Power to BMW.
Thus, the auto giants invest in solid-state accumulators as they see in them high potential — such batteries differ in security and low price therefore they approach as replacement to traditional Li-ion batteries in electric vehicles and consumer electronics.
Solid Power is going to use the raised funds for the organization of serial production of solid-state accumulators at the new enterprise which will be completely constructed and equipped with the equipment by the end of 2018. Start of production is planned for 2019.
Accumulators which will begin to be manufactured at this factory "will be used for preliminary tests on compliance to specifications of solid-state batteries of the company of a set of the markets, including automobile, space and defense", the press release says.
Solid Power says that the company expects to replace Li-ion batteries in those areas where "mobile high-performance power sources" are required.[1]
