History
2021
Receiving a grant in the amount of 3 million rubles
At the end of August 2021, it became known about the allocation of a grant to Avant Space (AS) in the amount of 3 million rubles, which is planned to be spent on creating a mobile application for recognizing encoded images from space similar to QR codes.
As AS technical director Alexander Malinin explained to Vedomosti, 20-30 satellites weighing 7.5 kg each, equipped with laser arrays, will be launched into space as part of the project. They will be able to form luminous logos of advertising customers in the twilight and night skies. The system will be turned on when satellites pass over large cities. The size of the coating spot will be about three full moons or 1.5 angular degrees, Malinin said.
According to him, so that the satellites line up in the sky in the right order and the lasers are steadily oriented to the right point, AS spacecraft will use corrective ion engines (first purchased, then own development), as well as laser array stabilization systems. This will allow each spacecraft to create a light spot, the diameter of which on the ground will be about 20 km.
Avant Space claims that the coverage of such advertising can reach a huge figure of 1 billion people, and the company's annual revenue will approach the mark of $100 million per year.
According to experts polled by Vedomosti, claims to the project are not limited to clogging the night and twilight skies alone. Some interlocutors of the publication say that everything that happens in space (in orbit over 100 km) is not regulated by the laws of a particular country. Others say that there is no upper border of airspace over the Russian Federation, where the laws of the country cease to apply. Therefore, it remains in question how advertising from space will be regulated, the newspaper writes.[1]
Projects
As of 2021, Avant Space:
- is engaged in the development of a helikon grid engine for small spacecraft. Tests are carried out in the laboratory of Plasma Physics of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
- is working on a project in which it is planned to begin demonstrating advertising in the night sky using satellites in Earth's orbit.
