History

2021: ServiceNow bought DotWalk

In mid-November 2021, ServiceNow announced the acquisition of DotWalk. The financial component of the transaction is not disclosed.

Joe Davis, senior vice president of platform development at ServiceNow, noted that testing capabilities will be available for free to all organizations that create custom applications on the company's platform.

ServiceNow acquired DotWalk

The number of customizable applications created on the ServiceNow platform has soared since the pandemic began. Many organizations have used the low-code tools provided by ServiceNow to create a number of applications that use the company's Solution SaaS as a basis. This approach allows them to quickly create applications that stimulate a wide range of digital business transformation initiatives.

Davis said the ServiceNow aims to empower users to improve the quality of these applications with DotWalk testing tools that eliminate the need for developers to create and run tests on their own or organizations from hiring professionals to test applications.

ServiceNow decided to get DotWalk because the company built the platform of testing with use of algorithms of machine learning especially for the ServiceNow platform, - Davies noted.

The DotWalk tools also analyze logs in the background to identify and verify the sources of errors that may occur during any application update process.

Despite the fact that there are a large number of professional developers who create applications on the ServiceNow platform, the company is also trying to encourage so-called civilian developers to create applications. The problem is that many end users building applications lack understanding of design, security, and what they need to scale the application. AI-based testing tools should make it easier for developers, regardless of their experience, to build enterprise-class applications.[1]
