The company occupies 20% of the Russian book market and has the largest author's portfolio in Russia out of 8000 names. EKSMO is the leader in the circulation of published books according to the Russian Book Chamber, a leading publishing house in the market of fiction, entertainment, applied and children's literature.

The publishing house has a developed distribution network, which includes eight regional centers. Particular attention is paid to the efficiency of deliveries of new products to stores - two to five days after the release of the book.

Performance indicators

2024: Revenue growth by 16% to RUB 21.8 billion

In 2024, Eksmo Publishing House recorded revenue of 21.77 billion rubles. The growth in relation to 2023, when the company received 18.82 billion rubles, amounted to 15.7%. This is stated in the accounting documentation, which TAdviser got acquainted with in mid-April 2025.

In total revenue, about half, or almost 11 billion rubles, were directly sold books. Printing services provided 5.2 billion rubles. The cost of sales on an annualized basis rose from 11.62 billion rubles to 13.55 billion rubles. Commercial expenses increased from 1.94 billion rubles in 2023 to 2.51 billion rubles in 2024, that is, by 29.1%. Management expenses increased by 18.6% - from 2.18 billion rubles to 2.58 billion rubles. Accounts receivable for the year grew by 6.9% - from 4.76 billion rubles to 5.08 billion rubles. At the same time, accounts payable decreased by 3.8% - from 5.9 billion rubles to 5.68 billion rubles.

Annual revenue of Eksmo Publishing House increased by 16% to 21.8 billion rubles

The gross profit of the Eksmo publishing house in 2024 reached 8.22 billion rubles: this is 14.2% more than in 2023, when the figure was 7.2 billion rubles. Profit from sales increased from 3.08 billion rubles to 3.13 billion rubles, that is, by 1.6%. Profit before tax amounted to 2.86 billion rubles. For comparison: in 2023, pre-tax losses were recorded in the amount of 3.08 billion rubles. The company received 2.55 billion rubles of net profit, while in 2023 it suffered 2.5 billion rubles of net losses.

Revenues from sales of products, goods, works and services increased by 15.8% - from 16.57 billion rubles to 19.19 billion rubles. Revenues from lease payments, license payments, royalties, commissions and other similar payments jumped by 49%, reaching 1.81 billion rubles against 1.22 billion rubles in 2023.[1]

History

  • One of the largest publishing houses in Europe, Eksmo was founded in 1991 as a distributor of book products. The company took up independent publishing in early 1993 and by the mid-90s became one of the leaders in the Russian book market.

Eksmo acquired control in the publishing house

2021: Purchase of Eksmo Publishing and Printing Complex

In early September 2021, it became known about the sale of 100% of the Pareto-Print publishing and printing complex, which previously belonged to Alexander Mamut, to the Eksmo publishing house.
