Fortinet completed acquisition of enSilo
On November 5, 2019 it became known that Fortinet, the company in the field of the global integrated and automated solutions for ensuring cyber security, announced completion of acquisition of enSilo, private company with head office in San Francisco (piece California) developing systems for security of endpoints. This acquisition will help to increase possibilities of the Fortinet Security Fabric platform, will strengthen the products created by Fortinet company and will provide users with solutions for protection of endpoints, having provided the following functionality:
- The automated protection in real time against the most dangerous threats and a set of services of response to incidents developed by team of experts on cyberthreats;
- The patented technologies of trace of the code allowing to reflect cyber attacks and to prevent emergence date leaks and infection harmful SOFTWARE; it will help to conform to requirements PCI, HIPAA and GDPR;
- The lightweight agent with function of protection for different operating systems, including Linux, Windows and macOS;
- The system of coordinate protection for Internet of Things (IoT) exercising the built-in access control and protection for endpoints;
- Flexible local and cloud deployment with a possibility of multi-user lease and scaling to hundreds of thousands of endpoints.
The consolidation Fortinet and enSilo creates perspective for the enterprises and service providers of any level. The Fortinet company intends to offer clients protection products. Growth of efficiency will be reached due to integration of the technology of detection and reaction for endpoints (EDR) developed in enSilo into solutions of Fortinet: FortiSIEM, feature set of the analysis of behavior of users of FortiInsight UEBA and FortiNAC. The companies will be able to receive assessment of events on endpoints and to exercise carefully coordinated, dynamic control of behavior of network, users and a host within controlled space.
The similar functionality waits for suppliers of managed services for security (MSSP). They will be able to derive in full benefit of merger of companies and will provide to clients a complex and effective product for the managed detection and reaction for protection of endpoints (MDR).
Even before the acquisition the enSilo company acted as the partner and proposed ready-made solutions for the Fortinet Security Fabric platform. Its products can already be used in firewalls of the next generation FortiGate, FortiSandbox, FortiSIEM and FortiClient. They create the additional security level which helps detection and use of means of protecting, allowing the organizations to reduce time for detection of the malicious attacks, their studying and elimination.
In process of development of corporate networks and expansion of their working environment, from clouds to peripheral devices and Internet of Things, there is an exponential growth of a surface of cyber attacks. It becomes much more difficult to provide protection of all perimeter. The strategy of search of threats manually or use of point means of protecting become inefficient, when it comes to control or protection of areas. Instead of former approach it is necessary to integrate together security aids and instruments of network support, to coordinate their work effectively to constrain threats at speeds of work of the network. Purchasing enSilo company, we receive in the outspanning of function of the automated detection, protection and reactions in real time. They will be added to our platform of security of Fortinet Security Fabric for gain of protection of endpoints and data on border of networks, told Ken Xie, the founder, the chairman of the board of directors and the CEO of Fortinet company

Integrating, enSilo and Fortinet companies through joint efforts will solve the most complex problems of clients, providing protection for endpoints, their corresponding transactions and data. Now the patented enSilo technologies to the strengthened protection of endpoints and reaction will become available to Fortinet company and will appear in its product portfolio for security, noted Roy Katmor, the CEO and the founder of enSilo company

Fortinet purchased enSilo
At the end of October, 2019 Fortinet announced acquisition of a startup of enSilo to improve the technologies for automatic detection of cyberthreats and response to them.
Thanks to the integrated means of tracking, control and anticipatory protection of the solution Fortinet, enSilo complemented with developments, will increase security of endpoints. Functions of detection, monitoring and assessment of threats to which the endpoint is exposed allow to provide compliance of endpoints, to mitigate risks and to reduce vulnerability level.
Security and network should be integrated and organized so that to provide control of advanced threats at a speed of network — the head of Fortinet Ken Xie says. — Purchasing enSilo, we add function of automatic detection, protection and reaction in real time to our Fortinet Security Fabric system for additional protection of endpoints and the relevant boundary data. |
Financial and other conditions on which Fortinet and enSilo concluded the bargain, are not specified.
Earlier enSilo was a partner in the product Fortinet Security Fabric, helping the organizations to reduce time necessary for detection, investigation and elimination of the harmful attacks. It is expected that merge of Fortinet and enSilo will facilitate to service providers of the managed security (MSSP) providing complete solutions of MDR (Managed Detection and Response, management of detection of threats and reaction).
Added to Fortinet that integration of EnSilo with functions of access control and security of endpoints helps to provide protection via the Internet of things.[1]
