Conversion of the former Ford plant in Russia for wood processing production
The former Ford plant in Russia began to be converted into a wood processing plant. This was reported on February 2, 2023 in the press service of the Committee for Economic Development and Investment Activities of the Leningrad Region.
The site of the former Ford plant in the Leningrad region belongs to the manufacturer of auto components, but he was forced to suspend the process of launching production. Part of the territory is leased by a wood processing plant, and the company is successfully functioning. The investor is working in production debugging mode, the committee said in a statement quoted by TASS. |
At the same time, the name of the organization that implements the project on the territory of the former Ford enterprise was not disclosed. It is only noted that the woodworking company has entered into a lease agreement for part of the territory.

On January 31, 2023, the Governor of the Leningrad Region announced that negotiations with South Korean companies to restart the former Ford plant in Vsevolozhsk have not been interrupted to date, but have been suspended.
The site in Vsevolozhsk has been mothballed since 2019, after Ford left Russia. 2010
Company portfolio
The rich and long history of the business, its regional ramification, numerous mergers and transformations all left an imprint on the corporation's systemic landscape. It is difficult to quantify the portfolio of systems used around the world; as of September 2010, this portfolio exceeds two hundred different products.
From the interview Chief information officer Igor Kovalyov
Often, functional departments do not have a complete picture of the development of systems and, accordingly, expectations are raised about the time required to implement changes. However, at Ford - on my initiative and with the support of the CFO - we conducted an experiment: every week a local working group gathered, which included representatives of the IT department and departments whose orders are in operation. For these meetings, IT prepared three tables, which were updated during the discussion of the current status of projects.
In the first, relatively small, as practice has shown, the table turned out to be work, the implementation of which depended on the IT department, that is, projects in the stage of programming, error correction or other technical issues.
In the second table, the longest of the three, there were tasks where the ball was in the hands of business customers: missing or not yet fully approved by the customer applications and specifications developed, but not yet tested or confirmed by the customer solutions.
These meetings took place almost every week for several years and showed that the development of the system is usually delayed not due to the fault of the IT department, and this delay in deadlines can be avoided if you plan all stages of approvals and the availability of resources for testing in advance. The figure was also confirmed that programming takes from 10% to 20% of the time required for implementation. The rest of the time is spent writing and approving specifications, as well as testing.
The third table contained information about how many hours it takes to support a particular system module. The last table is needed in order to more clearly calculate how many hours a year it takes for comprehensive support for an ERP solution.
