Content

The brand of the Traditions of Success Group of Companies (formerly MSD) began to appear in the public space at the end of 2022. According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, since April 2022, the owner of this business has been Alexander Bespalov.

Among the group's assets are the Russian North (Vologda) and Rodnik and K (Mytishchi) plants, which used to be part of the MSD group, which specialized in licensed bottling of alcoholic beverages, including foreign copyright holders. The most famous of them can be called the international alcoholic holding Global Spirits with Ukrainian roots. Until February 2022, Russian North Rodnik and K produced alcohol under license under brands belonging to this holding. The flagship product of Global Spirits is Hortitsa vodka. His other famous products, for example, are Morosha vodka and Pervak vodka.

After February 24, 2022, Global Spirits revoked licenses for the production and distribution of products on the Russian market, [1]. Russian factories, where its products were previously produced, now produce alcohol under new brands.

Aktivs

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, since April 2022, Alexander Bespalov has owned alcohol production plants of Russky Sever LLC (formerly LVZ 1 LLC) and Rodnik and K LLC, as well as Standard Quality LLC (formerly TD Megapolis LLC). Russky Sever and Rodnik and K LLC are the founders of Traditions of Success LLC (formerly Msd Distribution Company). In addition, as representatives of the company told TAdviser, the plant in Uzbekistan for the production of cognac distillate was transferred to the Russian group in 2022.

According to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, before the Traditions of Success Group, Alexander Bespalov did not own any legal entities or shares in them.

Before Alexander Bespalov, "Russian North," "Spring and K" and "Quality Standard" were under the control of Oxford AMG-77 Limited (Cyprus), according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. The decision of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) of January 2017 states that Oxford AMG-77 Limited, along with Russian North, Rodnik and K, TD Megapolis and a number of other companies, were part of the international alcohol holding Global Spirits[2]. It follows from media reports that in recent years, Global Spirits said that it does not own Russian enterprises[3]

Brands

According to information from the Traditions of Success Group, received in early February 2023, the group is working on creating its own brands of alcoholic beverages, including under the import substitution program.

Popular brands of alcoholic beverages "Khortitsa," "Morosha" and "Pervak" are replaced, respectively, by the brands "Khorta," "Moroshka" and "Pervak."

The Traditions of Success Group assures that the quality of products will not change, since new brands are produced at the same factories and on the same technological lines.

Performance indicators

At the end of 2022, the Traditions of Success Group of Companies became one of the five largest vodka producers in Russia with a production volume of 7.13 million decaliters[4]. This corresponds to the level of its production in 2021.

In 2021, shipments of Global Spirits holding brands to the Russian Federation increased by 45%, to 7.1 million decaliters. With such dynamics, Global Spirits became the fastest growing in the top five vodka producers[5].

2022: Khortitsa vodka factories in Russia have changed their owner

In early May 2022, it became known about the change of ownership of alcohol factories producing vodka "Khortitsa," "Morosha" and "Pervak" from the portfolio of Global Spirits holding Ukrainian businessman Yevgeny Chernyak. They passed to a certain Alexander Bespalov, writes Kommersant, citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities. The publication notes that it was not possible to find information about Bespalov.

Now, according to a representative of the Russian North, with whom the newspaper contacted, the Global Spirits trademarks will no longer be used, but under what brands the products will be sold, has not yet been specified. Rodnik and K in April 2022 filed applications for the registration of trademarks Shustov, Pervak and Morosha Lesnaya.

At the factories for the production of vodka "Khortitsa" in Russia, the owner has changed

Market participants previously associated Russian North and Rodnik and K with Ukrainian businessman Yevgeny Chernyak. However, Global Spirits denied that the businessman owns assets in Russia, Chernyak himself denied this. The Russian North also claimed that they were not included in Global Spirits, and the brands were bottled under license.

The newspaper's interlocutors in the alcohol market believe that the deal is formal, the enterprises themselves will remain under the control of Yevgeny Chernyak, and a change of owners may have been required for the "visible alienation" of assets in Russia.

The owner of the Kaufman brand agency Stanislav Kaufman says that the revision of the portfolio of the Russian North and Rodnik and K companies in any case will require a re-start of promotion work, which will enable competitors to increase shipments, he points out. Lenta told the publication that they had not received notifications from the supplier of Khortitsa about the suspension of supplies.

In Perekrestok, Khortitsa is presented at a price of 309.9 rubles per 0.5 liter bottle, Morosha - from 329.99 rubles, Belenkaya - from 339.99 rubles, excluding discounts (data as of May 5, 2022).[6]

2017: Khortitsa vodka is recognized as well-known in Russia

In January 2017, Rospatent considered the application of GSH Trademarks Limited, a member of Global Spirits holding, to recognize Khortitsa as a well-known trademark in the Russian Federation, and issued a positive decision[7].

According to the EGAIS data provided there, over the period from 01.01.2008 to 06.12.2016, Megapolis Trading House LLC imported over 216 million units of alcoholic beverages under the designation Khortitsa into the territory of the Russian Federation, produced by Ukrainian Distribution Company LLC and a subsidiary of Image Holding, and for the period from 01.01.2009 to 15.12.2016, Rodnik & K LLC and Russky Sever LLC produced a total of more than 36 and 40 million units of products under the designation Khortitsa.
