2019: Pat Bern — the new CEO of GE Digital

2018: Transformation into the independent company

On December 13, 2018 General Electric announced transformation of GE Digital  into the independent company which will focus on solutions in the field of industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

GE Digital  will remain 100 percent "subsidiary" of General Electric, but will independently work and will get own capital structures, Board of Directors, a brand and "identity".

General Electric creates the new company for industrial Internet of Things with revenue in $1.2 billion

Bill Rukh (Bill Ruh) which headed GE Digital since 2015 leaves the company for "implementation of other opportunities", transfers the CRN edition. Search of the new head of GE Digital is going to be conducted both in the company, and beyond its limits.

Under a wing of the new company the IIoT-products GE Digital and also the solutions GE Power Digital and Grid Software Solutions will develop. Annual revenues of the company are stated in $1.2 billion. The leading industrial companies are among clients.

More detailed information on work of GE Digital is going to be published in the first quarter 2019. From General Electric of the independent company regulators should approve selection, however it is rather a formality.

Being one of the first leaders in the market of industrial Internet of Things, GE constructed strong business together with the industrial clients thanks to profound knowledge in data domain and software examination — the head of GE  Larry Culp says. — Having become independently working company, our digital business will take the best positions for promotion of our strategy. It will allow to focus on our main verticals to increase the income of clients and to create new value for our shareholders.

As a part of GE Digital there will be no ServiceMax company which GE purchased in 2016 the 90 percent share in it is sold for $915 million to Silver Lake fund for the price which does not reveal.^[1]

2015: Creation of division in General Electric

In 2015 the diversified company General Electric created division of GE Digital. It is about one of world leading manufacturers of the software for automation of production processes in the oil and gas industry, power, mining, water treatment, pulp and paper industry and other key industries. The solutions GE Digital cover all main levels of production management – from SCADA to MES level, business process management and integration with schedule systems and resource managements of the enterprise.
