The Healthlane company develops the solutions allowing to receive online and offline medical services in Africa.
2020: Investments from Digital Horizon and other funds for the amount of $2.4 million
On August 27, 2020 it became known that the Digital Horizon venture fund invested in the graduate of Y Combinator - Healthlane. This startup intends to construct an ecosystem in the field of medicine which facilitates access to services of health care in the countries of Africa based on existing offline - infrastructures.
Healthlane sets an example as new technologies can improve service quality of health care, without creating new physical infrastructure. For 2020 the main part of medical services in Africa appears in the state hospitals and clinics. Services are paid, and waiting time of appointment reaches five and more hours. Healthlane creates the platform which allows to reserve and pay appointment in the state clinic through mobile application. Further through Healthlane it will be possible to call the doctor on the house, to know analysis results, to receive recipes, to use telemedicine services, to order drugs with delivery.
For August, 2020 with the company more than 30 medical institutions cooperate in Nigeria and Cameroon, and the number of clients in the first half of the year exceeded 60 thousand people.
Unlike many startups which stake only on telemedicine the solution Healthlane integrates remote and internal medical services, and not only users, but also doctors, hospitals, drugstores and other market participants become clients of the company. Further it will allow to expand the list of services, adding, for example, insurance products. In it the model of the company is similar to the Chinese Pin An Good Doctor platform which audience for several years of work made 315 million people, and capitalization at the exchange grew to $15 billion. It is sure, the countries of Africa need similar projects therefore we will continue to monitor development of local digital healthcare of the sector in search of interesting opportunities, Alan Waxman, the founder and the managing partner of Digital Horizon commented |
Funds Sequoia Capital, Silicon Valley Bank, TSVC, Supernode Ventures, CRE Africa, Capitoria and also several early investors of Ping An Good Doctor also participated in a round. Total amount of a round was 2.4 million dollars.
