2022: Start of vegetable meat sales in UAE

In July 2022, the startup Healthy Innovation, founded by shareholders Efko"," began deliveries to vegetable meat retail chains. United Arab Emirates (UAE) At the first stage, products began to be shipped to 45 Union Coop and Aswaaq stores.

Healthy Innovation plant meat is represented in the UAE by three positions: burger patties, minced meat and Hi! meatballs. The pilot will run until September 2022. After that, a decision will be made to expand the geography and assortment.

In Russia, we have to explain why plant meat is promising, why foodtech technology of alternative proteins and biosynthesis of fats has a future. There is not even such a conversation in the Middle East. Food security there is a national priority. And our technologies make it possible to solve this problem, - said the executive director of Efko and the head of Hi! Sergey Ivanov.

According to him, the company received pre-orders from representatives of the Arab catering.

Earlier in 2022, the Efko venture fund opened its headquarters in Dubai. On the basis of its own scientific center, the fund invests in the development of vegetable meat and milk, sweet proteins, biosynthesized fats and cell nutrition, as well as in aerotaxis, hydrogen and solid oxide fuel cells.

Other Russian producers of plant-based meat include (by July 2022) Welldone, Greenwise, Tashir Food, Naro-Fominsk Meat Processing Plant, Vego and Uralchem. They produce plant cutlets, minced meat, nuggets, chicken and beef fillet substitutes and other meat alternatives.

As for the products of Efko. then it is exported to more than 50 countries by July 2022. Production assets are located in the Belgorod and Sverdlovsk regions, Krasnodar Territory, Moscow region and Kazakhstan.^[1]
