2020: Creation of division

In the middle of June, 2020 the producer of space products Honeywell started business on creation of the pilotless aviation systems, having relied on autonomous aviation space - drones, air taxi and drones of cargo delivery.

The head of new division of Honeywell Urban Air Mobility Stéphane Fymat reported that, according to forecasts of the company, the market hardware and the software for UAVs by 2030 will reach $120 billion, and the share of Honeywell in it will make about 20%.

Honeywell created division on development of drones

Honeywell does not make drones independently, but provides autonomous systems of flight control and aviation electronics. The idea of new division arose during a pandemic of a coronavirus and new splash in interest in UAVs. Fimat said that hundreds of employees of new division already work on appropriate programs of partners of Honeywell.

Among clients of Honeywell there is a Volocopter company which is supported by Intel, the Slovenian producer of the small aviation Pipistrel systems which develops the electric airplane with vertical take off and landing for cargo delivery and also the British company Vertical Aerospace which in 2019 tested the UAV capable to transfer 250 kg with a speed of 80 km/h.

The corporate venture division of Honeywell also invested in the Californian company AirMap which develops a management system for air traffic for UAVs, and the Swiss company Daedalean which develops autonomous management tools flight.

Fimat reported that his division works on a pilot project on use of QR codes for autonomous landing and also develops a system which can help aircrafts to be guided in "city canyons" where GPS can fail.^[1]
