Light Point Security — the American software developer for protection of browsers against Internet threats. The company was founded in 2010 by veterans of the National Security Agency (NSA) of the USA Zuly Gonzalez and Beau Adkins. The software platform of Light Point protects the staff of the companies from the harmful websites, nevertheless allowing them to browse online content. The platform displays web pages in the isolated cloud software environment, and then transfers page contents to the user's browser, thereby isolating it from action of a malicious code.

History

2020: McAfee purchased Light Point Security

At the end of February, 2020 McAfee announced acquisition of Light Point Security at the RSA conference in San Francisco. The cost of the transaction of the company did not begin to open.

On the same action of RSA the McAfee company showed Unified Cloud Edge — cyber security tools which combine functions of a software agent for secure access to cloud infrastructure, the web gateway and software for data loss prevention. McAfee will implement Light Point technology in Unified Cloud Edge to expand opportunities for protection of end users. In particular, the company is going to add a feature for isolation of the websites in browsers in the product McAfee Web Gateway which is a part of Unified Cloud Edge.

The web gateway similar to McAfee Web Gateway prevents Internet threats thanks to start of web pages in the emulated environment which deceives the malware.

The advantages of network protection connected with isolation of the browser also drew attention of other providers of cyber security. In January, 2020 the Cloudflare company announced acquisition of S2 Systems, startup for isolation of browsers which technology she used for creation of new service of web gateways.[1]
