As of April 2015, FSBEI Moscow State Technological University "STANKIN" is a technological university of Russia, one of the 9 backbone universities in the country. It trains engineering and scientific personnel for various branches of the machine-building complex.

2024: The court arrested the ex-head of the department Vitaly Lyudkov in the case of bribery at the launch of video surveillance
In early December 2024, the Basmanny Court of Moscow ruled to arrest the former director of the administrative and economic department of the Stankin Moscow State Technical University Vitaly Lyudkov on charges of attempted bribery on an especially large scale. Read more here
