The Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Karelia is the executive authority of the Republic of Karelia, conducting public administration in the field of education in the territory of the Republic of Karelia, implementing within its competence a state policy in the field of organization of recreation and rehabilitation of children in the territory of the Republic of Karelia, including ensuring the safety of their lives and health, performing the functions of implementing the state youth policy on the territory of the Republic of Karelia, as well as functions in the field of physical culture and sports[1].
History
2020: Transformation
By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Karelia dated December 21, 2020 No. 616-P "Issues of the executive authorities of the Republic of Karelia," the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia was transformed into the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Karelia with the abolition of the current Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Karelia. The Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Karelia transferred the functions of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Karelia in the field of physical culture[2].
2014: Activities of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia acted on the basis of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Karelia dated June 6, 2014 No. 173-P "On Approval of the Regulation on the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Karelia." It was the executive authority of the Republic of Karelia, carrying out state administration in the field of education on the territory of the Republic of Karelia, implementing within its competence a state policy in the field of organization of recreation and rehabilitation of children in the territory of the Republic of Karelia, including ensuring the safety of their lives and health, as well as carrying out the functions of implementing the state youth[3] on the territory of the Republic of Karelia[3].
