Rocket Software — the American software maker of mainframes founded in 1990. Judging by information from the official site, by October, 2018 the company has three representations in Russia: in Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg and Miass.

History

2018: Bain Capital buys Rocket Software for $2 billion

On October 8, 2018 it was announced sale of Rocket Software of private investment company Bain Capital Private Equity. The last takes a controlling stake of software developer for $2 billion. What share is provided in the agreement, is not specified.

Despite change of the owner of Rocket Software will save leadership team headed by the president and CEO Andy Youniss.

It is going to close the transaction on sale to the company until the end of 2018. Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse acted as financial advisors of Rocket Software, and Dechert advised on legal issues. In a case with Bain Capital the Kirkland & Ellis company, and the adviser for accounting aspects — PwC was a legal advisor.

As notes Reuters news agency, sale of Rocket Software filled up series of transactions at which private investors buy software makers who have the loyal customer base and earn from subscriptions and technical support — the things bringing the predicted income.

According to him, the transaction with Bain Capital will allow Rocket Software to select considerable resources for new global R&D-организации and also for development and deliveries of a bigger number of solutions which help clients to update the applications, data and infrastructure of security on the IBM Z, IBM i and MultiValue platforms.[1]
