History
2022: Marvell Distribution bought 49% of SK-Storage
On December 1, 2022, it became known about the sale of 49% of SK-STORAGE LLC to F-Plus Equipment and Development (F + tech brand, head structure of the Marvel Distribution electronics distributor). 51% of the developer of software for servers and DSS under the Baum brand remained with the founder of the company, Alexander Lapushkin.
The relevant information was published in the database of the SPARK-Interfax system. According to Kommersant, citing a source familiar with the terms of the deal, the share itself and the project to create its research and development center will cost F + tech 400-600 million rubles.
Nikolai Komlev, Executive Director of the Association of Computer and Information Technology Enterprises, considers the deal logical, since "the profit from a combination of software and hardware will always be greater than the sale of each segment separately."
According to the managing partner of F + tech Alexei Melnikov, the company is going to start producing DSS under the F + brand in 2023, and by 2024, thanks to software from SK-Storage, it is going to bring to the market its own developed equipment, which is close in characteristics to Huawei, Hitachi Vantara and IBM.
The plans are to enter the Unified Register of Russian Electronic Products in 2023 and occupy up to 30% of the DSS market within three years, he told the newspaper. |
According to the source of the publication, F + tech, the developer of software for DSS and servers is primarily needed to supply equipment to state-owned companies and departments. F + tech will create storage and servers from Chinese components, but in order for them to be trusted and meet regulatory requirements, secure Russian software is required, and not a conditional Microsoft product, he explained.
At the same time, as the publication was told in a large distributor of OCS electronics, F + tech "is also waiting for difficulties in returning investments associated with the relatively small capacity of the rather competitive Russian DSS market."[1]
