2024: Russia has created a system for controlling drones from space
Russia For the first time, an innovative remote control system for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) was created directly from space. As the general director of the aerospace holding SR Space said in early June 2024, Oleg Mansurov the technology allows the operator in orbit to Lands fully control drones in airspace.
The demand for this kind of advanced solutions really exists. Despite some slowdown due to the lack of external funding, we expect to demonstrate the capabilities of our system in July 2024, - said the head of the holding. |
According to him, a demonstration experiment using a new domestic development is planned to be implemented within the framework of the design and educational intensive "Archipelago." Mansurov admitted that the exact date will be determined later, depending on technical readiness.
According to the general director, the system of space control of UAV complexes has no analogues in the world. Its creation will allow Russia to reach the forefront and completely eliminate dependence on foreign technologies in this area. The decision is especially relevant in the context of increasing international tensions.
He added that the new development will provide a significant increase in the effectiveness of the operational use of drones due to the efficiency and expanded coverage of the control. So, from space, operators will be able to coordinate the actions of drones in the most remote regions, carry out their guidance on specified targets and control movements.
Mansurov stressed that the innovative system will be in demand both in the interests of law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and in civilian industries. It will significantly increase the effectiveness of the use of drones for aerial monitoring, geodesy, logistics and other tasks. Due to the space component and the lack of binding to ground communication channels, drone control will become more flexible and secure.[1]

In April 2021, it became known about the investments of the creator of the domestic messenger "Seraphim" Anton Nemkin in the company Success Rockets. The entrepreneur, along with two other investors, invested 310 million rubles.
The founder of the startup Oleg Mansurov and the representative of Anton Nemkin told Forbes magazine about investing in Success Rockets. The shares of investors in a private space company were not disclosed.
Success Rockets intends to spend the attracted investment on the work. In particular, the company plans to conduct flight tests of the rocket, create technological samples of the tug and small spacecraft and build a system for servicing commercial orders for the analysis of space images. The money received will be enough for about a year, Mansurov said.
Anton Nemkin, in addition to creating the Seraphim corporate messenger, is known as the founder of the Vladex crypto exchange project. In addition, according to the Russian Service and Forbes, BBC he worked in. FSB
Not a single startup in Russia has yet set such ambitious goals as Success Rockets, Ivan Kosenkov, senior project manager of the Skolkovo Foundation's advanced production technology cluster, told Forbes. According to him, for their implementation you need a design bureau of at least 50 engineers. He noted that it is difficult to understand who will be Success Rockets customers: by April 2021, more than 70% of the satellite data market is a state order.
To create a line of launch vehicles and satellites, an industrial base and operator activities, the company will need at least 7-10 years if it worked in the US market, and in Russia this period will be even longer, Kosenkov said.
Andrei Ionin, a corresponding member of the Tsiolkovsky Russian Academy of Cosmonautics, called the space market difficult, and Success Rockets, according to him, says that it will do everything on it that only a very large company can do.[2]
