2024: Receiving funding to launch Russia's first airbag production
Sollers received 1.2 billion rubles to launch the first production of airbags in Russia. The company told about this on February 20, 2024.
A preferential loan to the Security System Components company (part of the Sollers group) was provided by the Industrial Development Fund (FRP). These funds are designed to localize the production of components of passive safety systems, the Sollers press service told RIA Novosti.
It is specified that with the money received from the FRP, Sollers will purchase new equipment: foam filling machines, component assembly lines, cutting and sewing equipment, lines for installing printed circuit boards and assembling control units of passive safety systems, as well as stands for testing and inspections of all products.
Production will be launched at a plant in Ulyanovsk. Consumers of products will be enterprises of the Sollers group, as well as other Russian manufacturers of cars and light commercial vehicles. The project provides for the creation of more than 200 new jobs. The total investment is estimated at 1.5 billion rubles.
It is also planned to develop and release various components of safety systems - not only airbags, but also steering wheels, seat belts, electronic system control units. Among domestic automakers, this is the first such project with the localization of important components in Russia, Sollers said.
According to the Kontur. Focus service, Security System Components LLC was registered in Ulyanovsk at the end of September 2023 with an authorized capital of 1 million rubles. By February 2024, the company is 100% owned by PJSC Sollers, the perimeter of its activities will include the production of components of passive safety systems, as well as the development of relevant engineering competencies[1]
