History
2019: Syneron Candela is renamed into Candela
At the beginning of March, 2019 Syneron Candela announced rebranding within which the company was renamed into Candela. Before it the producer of laser cosmetology technology began to transfer the headquarters and also department of developments from Veyland to Marlborough, the State of Massachusetts, the USA.
The updated corporate style reflects our firm intention to adhere to the guidelines of security, efficiency and reliability. The new symbolics also clearly demonstrates our aspiration to strengthening of the long-term and based on mutual trust partnership of Candela with medical specialists and their patients — the head of the company Jeffrey Krauz noted. |
The declaration of the future changes matched start of the new corporate website of the company — candelamedical.com.
Candela transfers the corporate offices to the building of 4645 square meters in Marlborough. The building built in 1984 was restored in the fall of 2017 after an overhaul by the owner — Boston Andes Capital. An object was empty since the Verizon company left it.
Candela stated that it intends to spend $5 million for repair for creation of an optimal working space. Besides, about $1.5 million will be borrowed by renovation of department of developments which will also move to Marlborough. The new headquarters received the name InterLocke.
According to the tax agreement signed with the city, the company will translate all the employees who total 200 people, in Marlboro and will employ in addition 50 people by June, 2020 and 50 more – to the middle of the 2022nd.
From the city administration this agreement provides release of the company from the real estate duty and personal property in the amount of 100% in the first year, 80% of percent for the second year, 75% in the third year, 60% in the fourth year, 55% in the fifth year, 40% in the sixth year and 20% in the seventh year.[1]

In 20 years more than 10 thousand laser systems are installed
In March, 2018 Syneron Candela celebrates the 20 anniversary from the moment of the first installation of the laser Gentle Lase system intended for removal of hair and pigmentation on a body. At this time the line is provided by the following products:
- Gentle Max Pro lasers: 755 nanometers of aleksandritovy and 1064 nanometers of Nd: YAG;
- aleksandritovy Gentle Lase Pro laser of 755 nanometers;
- Gentle YAG Pro laser: 1064 nanometers of Nd: YAG.
For last 20 years 10 thousand similar systems in 86 countries of the world[2] were installed].
2017: The company is sold to Apax Partners for $400 million, delisting with Nasdaq
On July 17, 2017 [3] became known of closing of the transaction on Syneron Candela purchase by Apax Partners investment company announced in April of the same year approximately for $400 million[4]
Earlier, in June, sale of Syneron was approved by Board of Directors of the company. As a result of the transaction under the terms of which Apax Partners paid $11 for each stock Syneron the last was transformed to the closed private company. Securities of Syneron since June 17, 2017 are removed from Nasdaq Stock Market stock exchange, and the company is excluded from the quoted list of marketplace.
Besides, within merger of Apax Partners appointed Geoffrey Crouse to the position of the CEO and board member of Syneron. Before this appointment Crouse from 2012 to 2015 headed the biotechnology company Cord Blood Registry sold to AMAG Pharmaceuticals, and still earlier — held a post of the chief operating officer in the American company Immucor.
"I am very glad to join Syneron Candela. I under a big impression of the potential of business of Syneron and enthusiasm of talented staff of the company" — Jeffrey Krouz commented on the appointment.
He added that he sees a real opportunity to give a new impulse of the company, relying on the developed trademarks and advanced technologies of Syneron, the high level of engineering art and quality of the organization of new product development.
Along with Krouz, Mike Johnson, Mary Trout and Todd Vann Horn also entered into the management of Syneron. Johnson held a position of the chief financial executive, and Trout and Van Horn headed the American representative office of Syneron.
The new team of heads will be located in the headquarters in California, the USA, specified in the company.[5]
2014: Merger of New Star Lasers for $11 million
In 2014 the company spent $11 million for merger of New Star Lasers, Inc. (dba CoolTouch Inc.).
2012: Merger of Ultrashape for $12 million
In 2012 for $12 million the Ultrashape company is purchased.
2010: Merger of Pharos Life for $15.8 million
In 2010 for $15.8 million the Pharos Life Corporation company was purchased.

Merge of Syneron and Candela
In September, 2009 Syneron Medical and Candela Corporation announced merge.
Merger of Candela for $65 million and Primaeva Medical
In 2009, using opportunities which were given by Great stagnation in the USA, Syneron purchased for $65 million the American supplier of the laser Candela Corporation medical equipment and also company Primaeva Medical, Inc.
In February, 2009 American Lou Scafuri became the new CEO for the first time.
2008: Doron Gerstel is the new CEO, entry into the market of China
In 2008 the company began entry into the market of China. In 2008 Doron Gerstel was appointed the new head of the company. Same year the company takeover of Rakuto Bio Technologies Ltd took place. and Inlight Inc.
2007: Agreement on distribution with Procter & Gamble
In 2007 David Schlachet who worked in this position only one and a half years was appointed the new CEO.
In 2007 the agreement with Procter & Gamble that the company will sell the Syneron Medical equipment through the distribution network was reached.
2004: Entry into Nasdaq National Market
In 2004 stocks of the company began to be quoted on Nasdaq National Market.
2000: Shimon Ekhoyz founds the company in Israel
In 2000 Shimon Eckhouse founded Syneron Medical company. From the moment of foundation of the company till 2005 Moshe Mizrahi was the CEO of the company.
1999: Development of ELOS technology
In 1999 the Israeli scientists in the field of esthetic medicine Shimon Ekhoyz and Mikhail Kreyndl developed and patented the ELOS technology (electron-optical synergies) directed to stimulation of natural recovery processes in a term.
