2026: Building a Digital Warehouse Twin and Switching to Warehouse Robots

In March 2026, the introduction of a digital double of the finished product warehouse was completed at the Techno Plant of Technonikol in Serpukhov (Moscow Region). In the next stage of the project, it is planned to robotically transport and stack products.

As Vitaly Cherkasov, director of the Techno Plant, explained, the use of a digital twin made it possible to analyze several options for the internal structure of the warehouse. Experts were able to check how the changed routes of equipment, the new location of overpasses, loading and unloading zones will cope with the predicted growth in production volumes.

Technonicol has developed a digital copy of the warehouse and is introducing automated warehouse robots

The main advantage of the technology was the ability to work in a safe environment without risk to current operations, as well as the generation of large amounts of data describing many processes. Cherkasov added that the mathematical miscalculation of such a number of scenarios is extremely difficult.

The digital twin is a virtual copy of the warehouse complex. The technology allows you to create several variants of the warehouse model, evaluate their potential effectiveness and choose the best option before starting construction work or changing logistics.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region Ekaterina Zinovieva, with the help of this tool, the company plans to integrate a new warehouse area of about 13 hectares into the current logistics system.

As for automation, it will affect key operations: acceptance of products from the production line, their movement to storage areas, placement in cells and subsequent shipment to consumers. The implementation of these measures, according to Zinovieva, will increase the efficiency of planning and using warehouse resources, as well as optimize labor productivity.[1]
