2021: Opening the center
On September 29, 2021, the official opening of Russia's first technology and microfabrication center took place. It was created on the basis of the Federal Scientific and Clinical Center for Physical and Chemical Medicine of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA).
According to the FMBA press service, the ideas of Russian scientists, designers and engineers developing new diagnostic methods, innovative medical devices, including using microfluidic and nanotechnology, photonics and plasmonics, can be implemented on this site.
In the center of microfabrication, you can conduct scientific and applied research, as well as conduct development, design work, create prototypes and even experimental batches of medical devices and diagnostic systems based on microfluidic and nanotechnology.
This project is designed to reduce the time between the idea and the experimental study, between the design model and the prototype, between the working model and the small-scale product. In a short time, the center has already shown the possibility of implementing this idea using specific examples, the FMBA said.
A complex of technological processes has been assembled on the areas of the center to create special chips and devices for in vitro diagnostics. In particular, the center's specialists developed a portable Isaskrin-8 analyzer for detecting DNA and RNA pathogens of infectious diseases, including SARS-CoV-2. According to the creators, the time of complete analysis to search for RNA of the COVID-19 pathogen is less than 30 minutes. The device is designed for mobile use in laboratories and testing points, ambulance teams, doctors of sports medicine.[1]
