History

2025: Nationalization

At the end of November 2025, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg turned the Yamalkommunenergo company, the largest resource-supplying enterprise in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, into state ownership. The decision was made at the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in the framework of the case on the nationalization of the assets of Ural businessmen Artem Bikov and Alexei Bobrov, who were the beneficiaries of the STS Corporation.

The statement of claim, as reported by Interfax, was filed on October 28, 2025. Among the defendants are 15 individuals, including the former vice-governor of the Sverdlovsk region Oleg Chemezov and Tatyana Chernykh, chairman of the board of directors of STS Corporation, who are under investigation. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Bikov and Bobrov bought up resource-supplying companies in a number of regions due to "their informal ties with the heads of federal and regional government agencies."
