Biography
Boris Veniaminovich Levin was born in 1959. In 1982 he graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics of the Far Eastern State University, in 2006 he received an MBA degree from MIRBIS, Faculty of Financial Management.
In 1982-1995. served in the Armed Forces of the USSR/Russian Federation.
1999: Techmarket CEO
In 1999-2002, he served as General Director of Techmarket, which worked in the cellular retail market, which was subsequently acquired by Euroset.
He was also chairman of the board of directors of Ultra.
2002: Vice President of Security at Euroset
At the end of 2002, Boris Levin got a job at Euroset, where he oversaw security and legal support as vice president.
In September 2008, he was arrested as part of a high-profile criminal case on the abduction of former freight forwarder Euroset Andrei Vlaskin and extortion of money and property from him for a total of 13 million. rubles Investigators called the organizer of the crime the then head of the company, Evgenia Chichvarkina who flew to London before he was charged.
From September 2008 to November 2010 he was in jail until trial. The court handed down acquittals to Boris Levin and other defendants in the case, after which they were released.
In 2011, the Moscow City Court decided to pay Levin 20 million rubles for unjustified criminal prosecution on charges of kidnapping. According to Levin's calculations, such an amount would be his salary for the two years he spent in the pre-trial detention center.

As of October 2020, Boris Levin on the website of Realist Bank is listed on the board of directors. The chairman of the board of directors of this bank is Oleg Karchev. Through Burokrat LLC, Realist Bank belongs to him, as well as Alexei Abramov and Vladislav Mangutov (directly and indirectly own 33.33% each). The same businessmen, through the Cypriot Merlion Group Limited, own the Russian IT distributor Merlion, follows from the SPARK data and the register of legal entities of Cyprus[2].
Arrest as part of a criminal case on attempted murder of the ex-CEO of Merlion
As TAdviser found out, on October 22, 2020, Boris Levin was detained as part of a criminal case on attempted murder. The decision to choose such a preventive measure for him was made by the Khoroshevsky court. According to TAdviser sources, this was preceded by searches at Merlion. Later, as part of the same case, co-owners of Merlion Alexei Abramov, Oleg Karchev and Vladislav Mangutov were arrested. Read more here.
In January 2021, TAdviser became known that the victims in this criminal case are former Merlion CEO Vyacheslav Simonenko. The surname of Simonenko "surfaced" in the decision of the appellate instance, published on the official portal of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow, following an open meeting in the Moscow City Court in December.
On January 28, 2021, lawyers for top managers of Merlion voiced TAdviser their position in this criminal case. According to lawyers, their clients completely denied the charge against them.
All four defendants in the criminal case were repeatedly extended the terms of detention in the pre-trial detention center while the investigation was underway, but then they softened the preventive measures. Of all four, Boris Levin, as of early September 2021, was the only one still under house arrest. In February 2022, a representative of Lyovina defense told TAdviser that he was also released from house arrest on his own recognizance.
The period 2019-2020. surpassed all past times in the number of arrested celebrities of the IT industry. Some of them have been under house arrest since their arrest, and some have been in jail for long months while the investigation and trial are underway, even after repeated attempts to get a milder measure of restraint. 2022
Criminal case on attempted murder of ex-Merlion CEO closed
The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia terminated the criminal case against the co-owners of Merlion Alexei Abramov, Oleg Karchev, Vladislav Mangutov, as well as against Boris Levin due to the absence of the event of the crimes he is charged with, i.e. on rehabilitating their grounds. In the same month, at the request of the investigation, the former general director of Merlion Vyacheslav Simonenko was detained, about the attempt on which a criminal case was initiated in 2020. At the time of his arrest, Art. 307, part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false testimony combined with the accusation of a person of committing a serious or especially serious crime), Art. 306, part 3 (knowingly false denunciation with artificial creation of evidence of the prosecution); Art. 303, part 3 (falsification of evidence and the results of operational-search activities in a criminal case of a grave or especially grave crime).
Grigory Zherenov is involved in the same case with Simonenko. According to the Kommersant newspaper, in 2020 he testified that in the fall of 2015, together with a comrade, allegedly by order of a top manager of Merlion, he threw Molotov cocktails at Vyacheslav Simonenko's house in Krasnogorsk. They[3]On December 29, 2022, the Khoroshevsky Court of Moscow sentenced Grigory Zherenov to 2.5 years in prison in a general regime colony under the article on falsification of evidence (part 3 of article 303 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)[4].
The termination of the criminal case against the co-owners of Merlion and Boris Levin was preceded by the arrest in absentia in January 2022 of investigator Alexei Nesnov, who initially conducted this case[5]. He was wanted.
