2025: Appointment as CEO of AGR Automobile Plant

On February 10, 2025, it became known that Ilya Butin was appointed General Director of the AGR Automobile Plant, which is located in St. Petersburg in the Shushary industrial zone. Previously, he worked in the structures of the Russian division of Ford.

According to Interfax, we are talking about a production site previously owned by General Motors. This enterprise was mothballed in 2015 after the departure of the American concern from Russia. In 2020, the site was bought by Hyundai, which planned to organize the production of Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Palisade and Kia Sportage models on it. However, against the backdrop of a worsening geopolitical situation and the imposition of sanctions, Hyundai's Russian assets, along with the assets of German Volkswagen, were merged into AGR holding. So, on June 21, 2023, Volkswagen Group Rus LLC changed its name to AGR LLC, which was the first step in the transformation and restart of the business after the transfer of assets to the new owner of Art-Finance LLC. And on January 24, 2024, Art-Finance LLC, the parent company of AGR LLC, transferred 100% of its shares in the authorized capital of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus LLC.

The GM plant at the time of the Americans' deal with Hyundai was registered with the legal entity Ji Em Auto LLC. Subsequently, it was declared bankrupt, and a new legal entity, AGM LLC, is listed at the address of the enterprise in Shushary in February 2025, headed by Butin. In this post, Butin was replaced by Alexei Kalitsev, who since the beginning of 2024 has been the general director of the AGR group.[1]
