2025: Appointment as Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia
February 7, 2025 announced the appointment of Andrei Nikitin as the new Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia. The corresponding order was signed by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Mikhail Mishustin.
What exactly Nikitin will do in the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the department does not specify. At the same time, earlier in February 2025, Dmitry Bakanov, who oversaw the digitalization of transport in the ministry, moved from the post of Deputy Minister of Transport and was appointed General Director of the state corporation Roscosmos. Experts interviewed by Kommersant also say that the former Novgorod governor will deal with the development of digital technologies.
Later, the Ministry of Transport confirmed to Interfax that Nikitin would be responsible for the digital transformation in the department. He will coordinate the activities "on the informatization and automation of the transport complex of Russia." The Department of Digital Development is directly subordinate to Andrei Nikitin, the press service of the ministry said.
Bakanov, being deputy minister, was engaged only in digitalization and, in theory, the Ministry of Transport needs a person associated with this topic. As far as Andrei Nikitin will be ready to take on this direction, it is difficult to say. Perhaps the department will still redistribute powers, - Mikhail Blinkin, scientific director of the HSE Institute of Transport, told the publication. |
According to Vedomosti, citing its sources, Andrei Nikitin can become the curator of the field of unmanned technologies, he has the necessary experience to work in this direction.
In the Novgorod region, headed by Andrei Nikitin, they created the Ushkuynik research and production center. There they developed drones on fiber, which are used in a military operation, the source of the publication specified.
According to political scientist Konstantin Kalachev, the resignation of Andrei Nikitin cannot be called "so sudden." The expert recalls the episode during the meeting of the ASI Supervisory Board on January 23, 2025.
There is one technical question, I would like to discuss with you, - then Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the governor of the Novgorod region (quoted by Kommersant). |
