Biography
In 2002 he graduated from St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University with a degree in Economics and Management at Mechanical Engineering Enterprises, and in 2006 - full-time graduate school of St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance (FINEC), with a degree in Administrative Law, Financial Law, Information Law.
In 2006 he defended his thesis at the North-West Academy of Public Service on the topic: "Problems of legal provision of information security in Russia in the context of the globalization of the information space." He has the degree of candidate of legal sciences.
From 1998 to 2010 he worked in companies in the field of information and communications. He went from a communications electrician to the general director of Foris-Telecom Invest.
In 2009, he was elected to the Sinyavinsky urban settlement of the Kirov district of the Leningrad region.
From 2010 to 2011, he worked as an assistant to the head of the regional department of the customer of capital construction of the MVO at the FKP UZKS of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. In 2011, he became the general director of Northwestern Foris-Telecom.
In 2012, he was accepted into the state civil service as deputy chairman of the committee on telecommunications and informatization of the administration of the Leningrad region. Later, Daniil Sorokin was awarded the class rank of state civil service - full state adviser to the Leningrad Region of class 1.
Since 2015, he worked as deputy director of the informatization projects department, deputy director of the informatization coordination department and deputy director of the digital transformation projects department at the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation.
In November 2015, he was appointed chairman of the expert commission under the chief designer of the GAS "Election."
2020: Director of the Department of Information Support and Digital Transformation of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Ministry of Energy
On April 20, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak appointed Daniil Sorokin as director of the Department of Information Support and Digital Transformation of the Fuel and Energy Complex of the Ministry of Energy, according to the agency's website.
The department headed by Sorokin was created at the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation in 2020, and before that he had no head. The issues of digitalization of the fuel and energy complex are supervised by Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Tikhonov.
In 2020, the Ministry of Energy also launched the development of concepts for the digital transformation of the fuel and energy complex of Russia for the medium term - until 2024, and for the long term - until 2035. In addition to the department itself, representatives of the scientific and expert community take part in their creation. The documents will be approved in 2020 by the council on the digital transformation of the fuel and energy sectors, formed by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. More details here.
Academic activities
Over the years, Daniil Sorokin taught legal disciplines, including information and administrative law at St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance, as well as a special course "Information Security in Globalization" at Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
