2022: HbbTV/OTT platform for regional broadcasters "RTRS Plus"
On November 16, 2022, RTRS introduced its own HbbTV/OTT platform for regional broadcasters RTRS.PLUS. The platform is available to owners of TVs with support for the HbbTV standard and with an Internet connection. To enter the platform, the viewer needs to select the 999th service channel in the list of TV channels. When you click on it, a menu opens with the sections "Local TV," "Radio," "Video," "TV Program," "Reminders." The menu will be formed in each region separately.
In the "Local TV" section, viewers will see the TV channels of their region, including municipal ones. This will allow regional broadcasters to maintain and even increase their audience amid the rapid growth of Internet services. The pilot region will be the Sverdlovsk region. In the future, other constituent entities of the Russian Federation will be able to join the project , noted First Deputy General Director of RTRS for network management, operation and development, Alexander Zolotov.

In the "Video" section, a library of programs of local television studios will be formed. These programs can be viewed in video on demand mode with pause and rewind functions.
Viewers will not need to download an additional application to view platform content on an HbbTV-compatible TV. Downloading the application through online stores will only be needed to log into the platform from smartphones, tablets and smart TVs without support for the HbbTV standard.
Additionally, it is reported about the online platform RTRS for tapping local information into the radio. The platform makes it possible to fill the air with advertising and information audio materials that are of interest to residents of a particular settlement. The technical solution proposed by the enterprise will allow delivering messages to target audiences in small towns and will help radio stations expand broadcasting outside megacities. RTRS is testing a platform in the Novosibirsk region.
The RTRS digital television network includes 5048 transmitting stations with TV towers and covers 98.4% of residents countries by digital broadcast broadcasting. The extensive infrastructure enterprise is also used for the placement of telecommunication equipment at the facilities, communications alerting, population operational KV- and VHF-radio communications, transmission data using technologies and VSAT LoRaWan.
