Building of DPC of Cloud DC Moscow 1

The DPC of Cloud DC Moscow 1 opened in June, 2015 on the platform "Alabushevo" of the Zelenograd special economic zone. Its construction was conducted one and a half years. In addition to the building of the DPC the Cloud DC complex occupying in total section in 1.5 hectares with own communications also includes the administrative building of 2000 sq.m., a parking zone and warehouses.

Owners

The Cloud DC complex with DPC belongs to Ouch Em Ti company for which providing cloud services on its basis is core business. The cofounder and the shareholder of this company -Anatoly Kondratyev - the authoritative professional in the aviation environment, one of founders of aviation logistics and express transportations in Russia. He holds a position of the chairman of the board of directors in the company. His son Sergey Kondratyev occupies the CEO's position in Ouch Em Ti.

Energy efficiency

For launch Cloud DC Moscow 1 is one of the most energy efficient DPCs in Russia. Its design factor PUE makes 1.2.

Cloud DC Moscow 1 provides linear dependence of energy consumption from loading of data center. The high rate of energy efficiency in the company is explained with use of the innovation cooling system on free-cooling technology which within a year consumes 4 times less electric power and also use in all DPC of LED lighting which is at 12-15 times more economic, than normal.

Services

At the time of opening of DPC of Cloud DC Moscow 1 its main specialization is provision of services cloud infrastructure (IaaS): the private selected cloud, public and hybrid clouds. For this purpose in DPC platforms Mirantis OpenStack and Microsoft Azure and technologies of hypervisors are used KVM and Hyper-V.

According to the CEO "Ai Em of Ti" Sergey Kondratyev, the DPC was initially created for providing only cloud services as in them the company sees the future of development of the IT industry. Cloud DC Moscow 1 is not going to render services in placement of the client equipment (collocation) of which in Russia the main share of services of commercial DPCs is the share. Having begun with service of cloud infrastructure, the company moves to providing also services of PaaS and SaaS, Kondratyev says.

In the SLA customer agreement "Ouch Em Ti" declares the level of availability of services of 100%. According to representatives of the company, it is reached due to duplication of all systems of data center and use the diesel - the rotor installations providing uninterrupted power not only for critical supply of IT loading but also for cooling systems, automatic equipment and access control.

Computing and engineering infrastructure

The basis of computing infrastructure of Cloud DC Moscow 1 is formed by the equipment of Supermicro company. The choice of this vendor Sergey Kondratyev explained TAdviser with the fact that from all considered companies this offered the equipment with the most optimal ratio price/quality. In DPC 300 thousand virtual CPU and DWH with a total volume about 60 PBytes will be available.

At the time of opening of Cloud DC Moscow 1 computing equipment is not transferred to it yet. The DPC will be filled with it in process of growth of client demand for resources. According to Sergey Kondratyev, within a year from the moment of opening of DPC the company expects to fill it with the equipment completely. The company told TAdviser that there are no signed service provision agreements at the time of opening of DPC yet, however "Ai Em of Ti" conducts negotiations on provision of services with a number of the large companies of federal level.

Modules in which machine halls are located are made of heavy-duty and fire resistant materials, declare in "Ai Em Ti". Own fire detection system at which operation for suppression special gas which does not do harm to the equipment and the people who appeared in the hall is supplied is brought to each server rack.

The DPC uses the cooling system of the Russian developer Ayaks Engineering, one of large customers of which is "Yandex". A system on the basis of free-cooling technology all the year round works in the mode of the maximum use of cold of fresh air without use of refrigeration compressors. At extremely high temperatures of fresh air a system includes the adiabatic cooler allowing to cool fresh air actually without electric power costs.

For providing uninterrupted power supply in Cloud DC Moscow 1 are used the diesel - rotor installations. Reserve stocks of fuel for them make 12 tons which will be enough for providing 24 hours of smooth operation of DPC in case of power outage.

Certification

According to representatives "Ai Em of Ti", creation of Cloud DC Moscow 1 was conducted in close cooperation with Uptime Institute. By the time of official opening the certificate of Tier III on the project of DPC (Tier III Design) was received. In August, 2015 it is going to complete the procedure of obtaining the certificate Uptime Institute on the ready platform (Tier III Facility), and by the end of 2015 – to receive the certificate of Tier III on operational stability (Operatonal Sustainability).

Investments into data center

In "Ai Em Ti" told TAdviser that construction of DPC from private sources of its shareholders and owners is financed. Exact investment volume into data center into the companies is not disclosed. According to Sergey Kondratyev, the company expects to spend about 2.5 billion rubles only for purchase of server and network equipment. Kondratyev told TAdviser that by the time of official opening of DPC, for it the equipment approximately for 1 billion rubles already purchased.

Creation of engineering infrastructure of data center, on the CEO's pilaf "Ai Em of Ti", was in the amount "less than 2 billion rubles". The company expects to pay back investments into data center approximately for 2.5 years.

Development Plans

At the time of opening of Cloud DC Moscow 1 "Ai Em of Ti" starts design of the new platform expected 600 25 kW racks. It is going to start its construction in 2016. These plans in the company are explained with the fact that now the segment of services IaaS grows in Russia very in high gear.

Business incubator

As of the middle of 2015 in the territory of the Cloud DC complex construction of the building of business incubator which "Ai Em of Ti" is going to create for development cloud a startup projects is also conducted.

According to Sergey Kondratyev, development teams with the good ideas can come to them to the company with a working prototype or a ready-made product and get a necessary financial and marketing support, the platform for development, including resources of DPC and also jobs in hi-tech office. On the middle of 2015 the company already signed several agreements with such startups, tell in "Ai Em Ti".
