2021: Intel Core vPro, Intel Xeon W-11000E, and Intel Celeron 11th Gen
On August 5, 2021, Congatec, a supplier of embedded and peripheral computer technologies, introduced twenty computers-on-modules for the Internet of Things. These modules, featuring the 11th generation Intel Core vPro processor, Intel Xeon W-11000E processor, and Intel Celeron processor, are designed for the most performance-demanding peripheral computing applications and IoT gateways in terms of bandwidth.
conga-HPC/ cTLH COM-HPC Client Size B modules (120 x 120 mm) and conga-TS570 COM Express Basic Type 6 modules (125 mm x 95 mm) will be available with a scalable 11th generation Intel Core processor. More details here.
2019: сonga-TS370
On July 17, 2019, congatec announced the release of 10 COM Express Type 6 modules with embedded Intel processors based on technologies designed for embedded computer systems. Four Intel Xeon processors, three Intel Core processors, two Intel Celeron processors, and one Intel Pentium processor are based on the same Intel microarchitecture (codenamed Coffee Lake H). This allows congatec to provide all ten processors in one COM Express module - conga-TS370. In total, fourteen variants of processor modules are available in this single microarchitecture, providing wide scalability. Advanced in terms of processing power, this list includes a 45-watt 6-core module with an Intel Xeon E-2276ME 2.8 GHz processor. It, thanks to the built-in high-performance processor graphics available for July 2019 worldwide, provides high-performance embedded computing.
According to the company, two 6-core congatec modules with TDP 25 W, which are based on the Intel Xeon processor E-2276ML and Intel Core i7-9850HL, deserve special attention. They allow developers to create fully passively cooled embedded computing systems that, thanks to hyperthreading, can run up to twelve autonomous virtual machines in parallel. They can work even in fully sealed systems, under the toughest environmental conditions and with a high degree of containment (IP) protection. The same applies to two quad-core modules with the Intel Xeon processor E-2254ML or Intel Core i3-9100HL, as well as a module based on the Intel Celeron G4932E processor, each of which has a partially configurable 25W TDP.
In the built-in peripheral computing segment, our OEM clients can now use these multi-core platforms to consolidate several previously separate systems onto a single embedded edge computer. Technology hypervisor allows them to simultaneously work up to twelve virtual machines in one system. These include real-time controllers (software logic controllers, PLCs), gateways Industry 4.0.. In addition, through a synchronized network, gateways IoT for sending to big data cloudy and central control systems, opportunities are opened for using tactile (- Internet Tactile Internet capable of transmitting not only, but also information sensations: touch, move, action), as well as vision systems, artificial intelligence () AI and based on applications deep learning. Also, there are software-defined network functions, such as prevention systems and, which intrusion detection are analyzed in parallel to traffic data applications. This avoids delays that can occur in sequential operation and applications. analysts said Andreas Bergbauer, product manager for COM Express modules at congatec |
For other applications, in addition to embedded peripheral computing, they include classic high-quality medical visualization systems and human-machine interfaces, as well as gaming, infotainment and digital advertising systems that require good computing power and single-chip bandwidth in tandem with Intel graphics technology.
2016: conga-TS170
conga-TS170 is a server-on-module focused on real-time multimedia processing.
On June 28, 2016, congatec introduced the conga-TS170 servers-on-module. The servers are based on the Intel Xeon Processor E3-1578L and E3-1558.
The modules feature integrated Intel Iris Pro graphics with 128MB of built-in high-speed memory eDRAM twice the processing frequency, which gives these modules excellent performance when performing video format conversion operations in real time.
The company offers a comprehensive package of Media Studio Server software. Modules from congatec are part of the ecosystem, which includes the BSP (Board Support Packages) development toolkit, a driver package, a ready-to-use motherboard, and a debug kit, which greatly simplifies the creation of individual server configurations.

Critical applications and cloud computing for the industrial sector of IoT applications are two main areas of application of the presented modules.
The purpose of the modules is to pre-process and convert large amounts of data, along with managing and monitoring local processes. In detail, at the lowest level, servers of this type have a high rate of response to events and operate in real time, allowing industrial IoT devices, such as smart sensors, displacement devices and complex composite equipment and machines, to operate at both the vertical and horizontal network level.
The high performance of media processing operations determines the scope and benefits of modules in most applications. These can be, for example, autonomous unmanned vehicles, unmanned aerial vehicle control, robots equipped with technical vision, along with self-learning machines using Deep Learning deep learning algorithms and neural network structures that gain additional capabilities when using high-performance processor computing such as GPGPU (GPGPU - General-purpose computing for graphics processing units), which are part of the Xeon processor architecture.
Media processing in IoT networks opens up a whole new generation of applications in various areas of the industry. Our server modules help developers simplify the development and scalability of their industrial platforms. Where there are increased performance requirements, hardware upgrades can be made extremely quickly, because modular computers can be replaced one at a time at any time. |
The servers-on-module comply with the PICMG standard for COM Express Basic and developers get the maximum security when designing new products.
Technical capabilities
COM Express Basic conga-TS170 modules are manufactured with pre-installed Intel Xeon processor E3-1578L and E3-1558 with Intel Iris Pro graphics. Compared to previous Intel Xeon processors, the base frequency of graphics and media processing is doubled to 700 MHz.
This significantly improved the performance of the media processing process using a hardware accelerator, which, among other methods for video conversion, always works at the base clock frequency. This allows real-time processing of one HEVC output stream with a resolution of 4K or up to 15 full HD-HEVC streams (1080p). COM Express servers-on-module have many common interfaces on the Type 6 connector:
- PCI Express Graphics Gen 3.0 (PEG),
- 8x PCI Express Gen 3.0 Lanes,
- 4x SATA 3.0 including RAID 0/1/5/10,
- 4x USB 3.0, 8x USB 2.0,
- LPC
- I²C.
All versions are supported, operating system Microsoft Windows including Windows 10 different OS versions. Linux There are:
- support for personal integration,
- extensive range of accessories,
- possibility of using specially designed custom embedded carriers,
- provision of additional services
- complete design.
