2020: Start of construction of the data center

On July 29, 2020, Rostelecom announced the start of construction of a data center for 2 thousand racks in Moscow. Its area will be 10,150  m ², total capacity - 17 MW.

According to the company, the data center will have the maximum possible level of reliability Tier  IV. It means that all elements of the systems and distribution channels are not only reserved, but also protected from physical destruction: located in separate rooms or passing in different ways in protected boxes. In addition, a data center of this level must provide uninterrupted power supply and continuous cooling of IT equipment in any system failure.

The design and construction of the new data center is carried out according to the standards of the Uptime Institute.  Rostelecom intends to certify the site for compliance with Tier  IV requirements in three areas of the Uptime Institute: Design documentation, Facility and Operational Sustainability. By the end of July 2020, there are no data centers in Russia that would confirm the Tier  IV level in all three areas of certification.
