2021: Start bus call service to stop as a taxi

On October 1, 2021, the "On the Way" service was launched in Moscow, which allows you to call buses to a stop and ride them like a taxi.

This is almost a taxi, only the cost of the trip is only 46 rubles, the Moscow Department of Transport said in a statement.

At the time of the launch of the service, it is available only to residents of several settlements of TINAO: Sosensky, Desenovsky, Voskresensky and Filimonkovsky. We are talking about the territory of "New Moscow."

As part of the service, 30 new comfortable buses are offered, equipped with seats with seat belts, USB connectors for charging gadgets, climate control, and a TV.

In order to use the service, you need to download the Moscow Transport mobile application or install a new version of it, select the Along the Way service, then mark the point in its area of ​ ​ operation, from where it is planned to start the trip. The application will advise the nearest stop, which can be reached on foot. You must then specify a destination.

The average waiting time for the bus will be 10-20 minutes. At the stop, it will be no more than two minutes, then the driver will go along the route. When entering the bus, the passenger must scan the QR code to confirm boarding the vehicle.

According to the head of deptrans Maxim Liksutov, the service will allow residents of New Moscow to get to the metro faster and more conveniently. He noted that during the testing "Along the Way" participants made more than 3 thousand trips.

The authors of the project note that transport-on-demand services for personalized transportation have already appeared in a number of large foreign cities. For example, a similar service in London is called Dial-a-Ride, in Berlin - BerlKönig, in Dubai - Bus on Demand, in New York - Via.^[1]
