Veeam B&R Integration
On June 16, 2021, Linxdatacenter announced that it had integrated the Veeam B&R data and IT protection tool into the vCloud Director cloud client portal.
Customers have the ability to manage their virtual machines from a single window and configure backup scenarios for them. This tool has been launched and activated on all Linxdatacenter sites - in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Warsaw for users of the company's cloud services who use a combination of "Veeam + vCloud" tools.
We have implemented a backup dashboard directly into the vCloud Director client portal. This solution has greatly simplified the tasks of administering the cloud component of the client IT infrastructure. For most, IT and data backup tasks are critical. Especially against the background of such high-profile events as the recent fire in the global data center OVH, when it turned out that many customers of the data center lost data without the possibility of recovery. Such cases emphasize the need to have the most up-to-date tools to protect business continuity by backing up all data and systems, "comments Maxim Khalkevich, Head of Digital Services and Information Security at Linxdatacenter. |
A single window for backup management is implemented as part of the VMware technology stack upgrade project, on which Linxdatacenter virtual infrastructure management is built. The project was launched in early 2021 as part of the overall strategy for the continuous development of the Linxdatacenter cloud platform.
This Veeam Backup & Replication data protection tool has been upgraded to version 11 and the vCloud Director tenant portal has been upgraded to version 10.1.

2020: Presentation of a set of IT tools for working in a pandemic
On April 8, 2020, Linxdatacenter presented a set of IT tools for working in the context of the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, Linxdatacenter announced the provision of the cloud free of charge to companies whose businesses have suffered from quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The solution is intended for organizations that are forced to adapt their processes to remote work during a pandemic and cope with an increase in the load on the IT infrastructure.
Mass transfer of employees to remote work, transfer of events and business trips to the online format, an increase in demand for all online services lead to an increase in the load on the company's IT services. You need to configure connections, expand communication channels, organize access to resources located in local server rooms, connect collaboration applications, and use additional information security tools.
Linxdatacenter has created an ecosystem where businesses are available on demand:
- Unlimited IT deployments and channel capacity expansion
- Remote desktops with full configuration, integration, and protection
- backup solutions.
The comprehensive solution is based on the resources of Linxdatacenter's own data centers and cloud platforms and on the basis of services from global providers - Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, Nutanix Xi and others.
Access to global platforms will allow companies to quickly grow IT resources without stopping business processes due to the lack of capacity of their hardware amid a sharp increase in workloads - for example, by adding remote desktops to employees.
Linxdatacenter gives businesses the ability to connect to global collaboration services, set up connectivity between IT infrastructure RUSSIAN FEDERATION and beyond, and connect to the largest - and SDNto providers traffic exchange networks and around the content world.
Linxdatacenter sites in Moscow and St. Petersburg are connected by a dedicated channel, and also have a direct connection to the infrastructure of the SDN provider Megaport in STO1 in Sweden and Equinix FR5 in Germany. Connecting to global providers and services takes 1-2 days.
Linxdatacenter, as the owner of a traffic exchange point at its sites, enables carriers to reduce traffic latency. Also, connecting to IX Linxdatacenter will allow companies that have services deployed on platforms such as Amazon, Google and Azure to build a dedicated channel to global cloud providers, significantly reducing the time to access their resources.
An equally important part of the IT suite will be Linxdatacenter remote desktops. The service includes terminal servers connected via RDP based on the Linxdatacenter cloud, Amazon WorkSpaces virtual workstations and Microsoft Office 365 services in the cloud. Separately, we should note the tools that ensure the protection of corporate data - a secure VPN connection, information security tools and scanning of user devices, as well as multifactorial authentication.
The service is convenient for employees working remotely, as well as temporarily hired employees, as it makes it possible to quickly deploy a pre-installed set of all necessary programs - an office suite, conference applications, a full circuit of protection against external threats and a secure VPN connection.
Thanks to connectivity with global providers, companies will be able to absolutely safely configure virtual workplaces in a service convenient for them: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Nutanix Xi Cloud, Oracle Cloud.
In the context of mass remote work, the risks of losing infrastructure and data sharply increase. Linxdatacenter offers a set of backup solutions based on Veeam technologies. Tools enable ultra-high availability of data and applications with backup, recovery, and replication capabilities through a convenient management console. Using the Linxdatacenter cloud eliminates the need for companies to maintain their own remote infrastructure for backup tasks.
The service to expand the IT capacity and bandwidth of the channels will certainly be in demand by the business. The load on the channels will continue to grow, including at the expense of companies that traditionally worked offline, transfer their activities online using video conferencing - for example, many sports studios have already switched to digital training. I am confident that the complex of Linxdatacenter solutions in the field of connectivity and redundancy will be useful for many companies, - comments Olga Sokolova, CEO of Linxdatacenter |
2018: Implementation of Electronic Visitor Registration
On July 18, 2018, Linxdatacenter announced the development and implementation of a system for registering access to data centers, built on the basis of electronic registration of visitors at its sites in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The company decided to abandon the traditional format of registering access to the data center with recording personal data in the visit log, maintaining a paper archive and presenting documents at each visit.
We were faced with the task of creating a modern tool that provides the necessary balance between objective security requirements and comfort for customers and partners of the company. Physical data security is one of the main factors that customers pay attention to. The system of electronic registration of visits in combination with biometric access control technologies gives full transparency as to who exactly when and where got access in the space of our data centers, including server racks, "said Nikolai Lyashuk, one of the solution developers, Linxdatacenter project and innovation manager. |
To ensure this task, LinxLab specialists, an innovative division of the company, have developed a solution that allows you to enter all the data necessary for secure authorized access in digital format through a special tablet installed when entering the data center. Authorization takes place by entering the visitor's personal data. The tablet communicates with the computer at the security post over a dedicated secure communication channel (in fact, it is located in an isolated network), and all monitoring elements on the device are blocked.
The system takes into account two main types of request: a one-time visit request or a permanent access request. The organizational procedures for these data center visit models are significantly different. The application for temporary access includes the name and company of the visitor, as well as the contact person who must accompany him throughout the visit to the data center.
Constant access involves the completion of an introductory briefing on labor protection by customers, the signing with Linxdatacenter of an agreement on the transfer of personal and biometric data (fingerprint scan, photo), as well as the receipt of the entire necessary package of documents on the operation of the data center by e-mail. When issuing permanent access, the need to fill out an application each time and confirm the identity with documents at further visits to the data center completely disappears, it is enough to put your finger on for authorization.
The project took about 4 months and was implemented on the basis of a tablet familiar to visitors. All necessary work is carried out by Linxdatacenter employees, it is not necessary to involve a third-party operator for service.
We greatly simplified the procedure for customers and excluded the risk of loss of information. In addition, the procedure for providing visit statistics for both auditors from certification organizations and our clients has been significantly simplified. The query is executed by accessing the data from the corresponding file, without having to search the archive papers. Another important step has been taken to overall optimize the management of our data centers, "added Taras Chirkov, head of Linxdatacenter in St. Petersburg. |
2017: Accreditation of Linxdatacenter Data Center Executives at Uptime Institute
In early July 2017, Andrei Perekrest and Taras Chirkov, heads of the Moscow and St. Petersburg data centers of Linxdatacenter, respectively, successfully completed the course for accredited specialists in operations Accredited Operations Specialist (AOS) Uptime Institute. 2016: Linxdatacenter Moscow DPC confirms compliance with PCI DSS standards
In December 2016, Linxdatacenter announced the certification of its own data center in Moscow for compliance with the PCI DSS standard. The standard was developed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), established by international payment systems Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and Discover. To comply with the PCI DSS standard, a number of measures were implemented at the data center to strengthen physical security.
In particular, the company conducted an internal audit, modernized the security complex, as well as the video surveillance system and control of the perimeters of the data center, complicated the mechanics of access to its machine rooms. The volume of investments in the development of security systems of the data center amounted to more than p30 million. An external audit of the data center for PCI DSS compliance was conducted by Digital Compliance, a subsidiary of Digital Security, a Russian information security consulting company. The result of the check was the issuance of a PCI DSS compliance certificate to the Linxdatacenter data center in Moscow. The audit confirmed that Linxdatacenter ensures an appropriate level of physical protection of the information infrastructure, and all processes for managing the security of personal data of payment card holders are implemented at the data center at the proper level. It is expected that the availability of a compliance certificate will allow the company to expand the pool of customers from among the financial sector companies.
In December 2015, the data center in St. Petersburg was awarded the same status. The PCI DSS qualification period is 12 months, after which a re-audit is required. According to PCI DSS regulations, throughout the qualification period, auditing companies are also required to conduct additional checks and stress resistance tests that guarantee a high degree of data center reliability."As
an international company, we consider it a priority to constantly improve the reliability of our data centers. PCI DSS certification confirms that Linxdatacenter's data and process security level meets the growing demands of financial institutions and banking institutions with which we are interested. So, in May 2016, we created a geodistributed IT infrastructure for Western Union, and most recently signed a contract with a large e-commerce company. I am sure that in 2017 Linxdatacenter's client portfolio will expand, among other things, due to large players in the financial market. For them, PCI DSS is a kind of quality sign of the data center, "said Mikhail Vetrov, regional managing director of Linxdatacenter in Moscow.
2014
In 2014, the company decided to expand the first commercial Moscow data center to meet the needs of as many customers as possible. As a result, its capacity doubled - from 300 to 620 racks, and the area was 4250 sq.m. The total power of the data center, taking into account the latest upgrades, reaches 5 MVA, which allows you to guarantee an average of up to 15 kW per rack. The upgrade and expansion of all auxiliary systems took place in a functioning data center, without interrupting the business processes of customers. Investments in modernization amounted to about 10 million euros.
Data center clients include more than a hundred international and Russian companies (Alibaba Group, Western Union, Wargaming, Greenatom, Sportmaster, Kaspersky Lab and others).
The client modules are designed for a different number of racks, the required area is allocated for each company. The largest module includes 155 racks. The Linxdatacenter power supply system is designed to provide reliable backup of all key elements. For this purpose, four transformers with a capacity of 1600 kVA each are used.
Linxdatacenter has a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). If the customer's main site fails, for example, has been de-energized, he can use DRC as a temporary office. In addition, the data center provides a storage room for the WIP and a client room in which customer engineers can carry out work outside the module. The physical security of client equipment is ensured by a whole range of technical means and organizational procedures: a round-the-clock security post, a throughput system with customer registration, an access control and control system (MCDS) to each individual module, as well as a video surveillance system that combines more than a hundred cameras.
2001
Linxdatacenter data center in Moscow was built in 2001 and, according to the company, corresponds to the reliability level of Tier III of the international UpTime Institute.
