2024: Discontinuation of new equipment due to lack of free space
The largest Russian data center of M9 (MMTS-9 JSC) in early December 2024 announced the termination of the reception of new equipment from telecommunications operators due to the lack of free space. Existing customers have also lost the ability to expand their infrastructure.
According to ComNews, 41 telecom operators are concentrated in this center, while in other Moscow data centers (RTK-DPC Borovaya and DPC Linx) there are only about 10 providers. Lead manager of Iv.Ru LLC Maxim Rayevsky said that the company owns 12 equipment racks in M9 and has unsuccessfully tried to expand its presence over the past few years.
In theYandex LLC Network Infrastructure Development Director Aleksei Sokolov warned that in case of emergencies, the load on the remaining data centers could lead to traffic degradation for all telecom operators throughout the country.
RTK-DPC, the M9 manager, plans to open a new 400-rack data center in Nizhny Novgorod in the first half of 2025. However, experts note the need to create specialized telehauses - data centers exclusively for telecom operators, following the example of European cities.
Evgeny Morozov, General Director of TsVKS MSK-IX JSC, noted that regional operators prefer to expand channels to M9 instead of connecting to other Moscow data centers due to more favorable financial conditions. According to Kirill Malevanov, technical director of Selectel JSC, the cost of expanding the existing port in M9 is much lower than the organization of a new connection in another center.
Piter-IX CEO Nikolai Metlyuk considers the situation an incentive for the development of distributed infrastructure and the creation of new traffic exchange points, which will increase the reliability of the Russian segment of the Internet.[1]
2022: Launch of 466 sqm hall at 151 racks
The Roste lecom DPC company is putting into operation another hall for placing client equipment in the M9 data center in Moscow at 7 Butlerova Street. This was reported on January 18, 2022 by Rostelecom.
The M9 Data Center is a large telecom-neutral platform in Moscow for placing equipment for commercial companies, telecom operators and government agencies. The 466 m2 room will accommodate 151 client racks. According to the plan, the total power consumption of the server equipment will be 840 kW when placing standard 5.5 kW racks. In addition, the project includes the possibility of installing high-load racks up to 12 kW at the individual request of customers. In terms of reliability, the hall complies with the Tier III standard.

The project is designed to meet the growing demand of these segments and strengthen our position in this market, "said Denis Afanasyev, General Director of MMTS-9 JSC, Deputy General Director of Rostelecom DPC. |
