Americans integrated one hundred microdrones in pack
Management of strategic opportunities of the U.S. Department of Defense together with command of the aviation systems of Naval Forces tested in 2016 the miniature Perdix unmanned aerial vehicles. According to[1], during tests from three F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters 103 UAVs which then integrated in pack[2] were started[3].
It is considered that packs of miniature UAVs will significantly increase chances of successful investigation of well protected opponent's objects. The matter is that the existing air defense systems cannot resist to groups of several hundred UAVs — several devices will be able to break to the purpose and to transfer data on her to the operator.
During tests of Perdix UAVs military checked capability of devices independently to integrate in groups, to select "leader", to cast and replace each other in case of losses. All checks are considered successful. Other details about tested are not specified.
Perdix UAVs are designed so that fighters could start them from standard automatic machines of shooting of the false thermal targets. UAVs have a folding front and back wing. After start devices low fly by over the purpose and transfer intelligence information aboard the plane.
New devices are executed by one-time. For construction reduction in cost the Perdix body is made of plastic — it is printed on the 3D-printer. The small electric motor with the pushing air screw is responsible for the movement of the UAV. Other details about the UAV are secret. The Pentagon selects the companies which could be engaged in large-scale serial production of Perdix.
It is going to start disposable UAVs from helicopters or airplanes. After reset the UAV is capable to plan a progressive tense, collecting important prospecting information. On Cicada different types of sensors, the general of which for all devices is GPS, can be installed.
