On July 19, 2019, it became known about the upcoming entry of Rostelecom into the smart intercom market. The company creates an ecosystem of dual-use services for households and management companies.

According to Kommersant Rostelecom, the new product was called Rostelecom Klyuch. It will include services for the local video surveillances and "smart intercom," which will be managed through a mobile application. Rostelecom enters the market of "smart intercoms"

The service will be provided directly to residents and management companies. The cost of the services was not disclosed. By July 19, 2019, the project is in pilot commercial operation in the Urals.

To find a partner in development and testing, Rostelecom held a tender in the amount of 83 million rubles, it was won by the developer of mobile  applications Redmadrobot.

A similar system was previously developed by the operator Er-Telecom (Дом.ru), launching a smart intercom with video surveillance, face recognition technology, Wi-Fi, the ability to redirect calls to mobile devices and open the door without a key. By July 2019, the system, according to Er-Telecom, is used by residents of 250 thousand apartments in 33 cities.

MTS is conducting a pilot project to introduce smart intercoms in the regions and together with MGTS in Moscow. MegaFon has a service for fixing violation of the boundaries of the protected perimeter, which registers dangerous situations and identifies objects using the technology of automatic recognition of faces and car numbers.[1]
