Bixby is the virtual assistant developed by Samsung Electronics company. Service is provided in March, 2017 together with the Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones. Bixby is created on the basis of the voice assistant to S Voice which is released in 2012. Bixby can be established in smartphones, tablets, TVs, home appliances and other electronics.

2018: Opening of service for developers

In November, 2018 Samsung Electronics opened for third-party developers access to the voice assistant to Bixby thanks to what service will be able to find much broader functionality, similar to that which is implemented in Amazon Alexa, Siri Apple and Google Assistant.

Samsung gave to developers an opportunity to create so-called "capsules" — an analog of "skills" (skills) in Amazon Alexa. They, for example, allow to train a virtual assistant in reading news, to turn on the TV, to look for recipes for preparation of a dinner, to reserve tables at restaurant and to perform other operations. It is supposed what after innovations of Samsung Bixby will become same useful to users, as well as similar technologies of Google, Apple and Amazon.

Samsung opens the voice assistant for third-party developers

Samsung set for itself an ambitious goal: by 2020 all electronic and household goods of the company will have a connectivity to the Internet and will be equipped with the systems of artificial intelligence and the voice assistant to Bixby.[1]

Samsung expands possibilities of Bixby not only forces third-party with developers, but also independently, including in Russia. By the beginning of November, 2018 information on search of NLP specialists, frontend-developer, the head of development of the speech synthesis conducting the developer and other professionals who will improve the voice assistant is posted in the section of vacancies on the website of Samsung.

The company pays special attention to artificial intelligence, having opened in 2018 three relevant development centers, including one in Moscow.
