2024: Technology Testing

Artificial intelligence can assess the risks of potential diseases from medical patient electronic records (EMR). This hypothesis was confirmed by a retrospective experiment conducted by specialists from the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence Sberbank and. Ministry of Health of Sakhalin Oblast Sberbank announced this on February 28, 2024. - AIalgorithm processed more than 100 thousand EMR and predicted the occurrence of malignant neoplasms (MNR) for 2022. As a result, when comparing predictive and actual values, the artificial intelligence system managed to detect a multiple of a larger additional set of patients with confirmed risks of ZNO.

The tested technology is potentially capable of supplementing the existing mechanism for the selection and prevention of ZNO in Russia, which relies on medical examination protocols. Sberbank's technology can be used both to rank existing lists of medical examination and prioritization of patients by risk (for the earliest possible detection of ZNO), and to expand existing clinical programs (for the most complete detection of ZNO).

For February 2024, the parties are discussing the possibility of a prospective study to confirm the declared characteristics of the AI model and determine the optimal scenarios for its use. Given the complexity and cost of treating advanced oncology, the developed AI technology is potentially able to make a significant contribution to the early detection and control of cancer. It is such technological Data Driven solutions that will determine the future of countries leading in terms of level and quality of life.

The results of our pilot experiment on Sakhalin as part of the Sakhalin Oblast Transformation Project "Technology Island" are an excellent example of how artificial intelligence technologies can help doctors and increase the efficiency of the healthcare system. Based on this technology, it will be possible to build a fundamentally new and more accurate medical examination method. Sberbank will continue to develop this focus for us, and I believe that in partnership with the Ministry of Health of the region, we will move from research to real implementations in the near future,
said Gleb Gusev, Director of the Sberbank Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.
