The Volkswagen concern provided vision of individual mobility and the complex concept of mobility of the future in March, 2017. The concept car in which function of pilotless management is implemented became its main element. Volkswagen Sedric (from self-driving car — the autopiloted car) gives the chance on a specific example to get acquainted with this innovation form of the individual mobility available to all and focused on personal requirements and desires. The first conceptual car serves as the platform for working off of the ideas of all brands of Volkswagen concern and emphasizes importance of technologies of automated management of the car in the strategy of future development of the company.
The concept of mobility of Volkswagen in general is directed to making modern technologies and security public. In c combination the Sedric concept car in a new way determines by the innovation management system a concept of pilotless movement. It is enough to press the button, and independently managed car is ready to take away the passengers to bring them to a destination point in comfortable and safe conditions, told in concern.
Strategy
In the strategy of future development of Volkswagen concern, as before, the central place is allocated to design, developments, production and car sales. When preserving the main foci the new direction — intelligent solutions for mobility opens. Investments into Gett service and creation of service company MOIA became important steps on this way, specified in Volkswagen.
"The automated cars will completely change idea of movement. The concept of mobility based on active use of unmanned vehicles in the long term will demand less place and energy, it will be safer and steady — are convinced of Volkswagen. — The concept will propose the solutions considering individual requests of adults and children, people of old age and with limited opportunities, citizens without own car or the car driver license or visitors who, having appeared in the unfamiliar city, suddenly decided to reach with comfort from point A point B".
The first concept car
Sedric is the first concept car of Volkswagen concern. It is the first car of concern developed for pilotless movement and corresponding to level 5. "It means that its management does not require people" — explained in concern. In search of the ideas for Sedric, its design, development and assembly were engaged in Future Center Europe in Potsdam and research department of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. Practice of movement

The button of start Sedric opens opportunities for new experience of movement. According to Volkswagen, simple clicking is enough to provide mobility for everyone, at any time and in any place. As envisioned by the company, the innovation control the car at the same time serves as the universal, working worldwide identifier when using of means of mobility. And, and in business trips, and a one click on the button on vacation suffices house to cause Sedric — the unmanned vehicle of "joint mobility" (Shared Mobility).
As the car of "joint mobility" Sedric enters the park of service company of Volkswagen concern. New Sedric can become the personal car offering individual configurations and released under one of brands of concern. Volkswagen are sure, as in the future people will not refuse own car.

Practice of use
As noted in Volkswagen, the purposes when developing Sedric were defined also accurately, as well as all system of mobility: consecutive reduction, extremely simple and completely intuitive management. A one click on the button, and Sedric approaches strictly in the designated time. The car distinguishes the user then the double door opens. Thanks to a wide and high aperture landing in the car does not bring trouble even in the presence of baggage. In spacious salon there is enough place for bags and suitcases.
Communication as with the assistant
According to representatives of the company, users can talk to Sedric as with the personal assistant. A car windshield — the big OLED screen with technology of augmented reality which serves as the center of communication and entertainments. At the same time to passengers nothing will prevent to close if desired eyes and to relax.
Design of the concept car

The double folding door takes a roof zone, and its big aperture provides convenient and simple landing and disembarkation — told in Volkswagen. — Sedric is intended for movement both in a city situation, and on country roads. Thanks to the concept of a body the car, at the compact dimensions, has spacious salon. Sedric developers refused classical proportions and such elements as a cowl or the shoulder line".
The monolithic basis became possible thanks to new technical structure. Sedric is the car using exclusively electrical energy. Its block of rechargeable batteries is located between axes, the compact electric motor — at the level of wheels. Such systems as climatic installation and electronic intelligence of an autopilot system, are placed in compact console elements in front and back parts.
In the whole Sedric — it is the living room on wheels with carefully picked up interior elements. The salon expected four passengers according to scheme 2+2 optimum uses the basic area of the car. Both back seats make an impression of a convenient sofa. Besides, Sedric in literal sense is planted trees and shrubs: the plants purifying air before back glass strengthen operation of air filters with bamboo coal. Large windows allow to hold communication with the outside world, and the transparent OLED screen of high resolution offers prospect ahead.
