2017: Announcement
At the beginning of December, 2017 at the technology TechCrunch Disrupt conference in Berlin the presentation of conceptual electric minibus Volkswagen Moia which is intended for services of ridesharing took place (joint trips on the car).
Innovation is called in honor of a startup of Moia which belongs to Volkswagen and is included into division of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. Though the minivan reminds a concept, it is ready to driving on public roads. The German producer intends to begin sales of Moia in 2018. The cost of the machine which was developed, as noted, by only 10 months is not called.
The Moia electrovan has a course stock in 300 km, and time of charging of rechargeable batteries for 80% is stated at the level of 30 minutes. Each seat in salon is equipped with an individual lamp for reading and USB ports. Also in the vehicle the point of wireless Internet access of Wi-fi is used. More detailed technical characteristics of the minibus are not sounded.
In 2018 testing of Moia on streets of Hamburg (Germany) will begin. In the first public tests it is going to involve 200 cars, and then vehicle fleet will be increased up to 1000 copies, the head of Moia Ole Harms told.

In Volkswagen consider that the cars similar to Moia are capable to replace the individual transport and it is essential to reduce automobile traffic in megalopolises.
According to Ole Kharms, for several years the Moia company will be included into the three of the world's largest suppliers of mobile services in the automotive industry and will be able to receive billions of euros revenue.[1]
