The Polytech Solar Team command from Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University is engaged in the project. The car is called SOL, work on it began spring of 2016. In 2017 the project was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and among the next purposes of a command there is a participation in the largest world American Solar Challenge 2018 and World Solar Challenge 2019 championships. Extent of routes of each of these races is about 3 thousand kilometers.
The body of the car consists of composite material which is used in rocket production and space production. Thanks to it the total weight of construction does not exceed 200 kg, at this SOL will be able to gather speed to 150 km/h. The car will receive energy thanks to solar panels with a total area of 4 sq.m.
2018
Kaspersky Lab supported creators of the first Russian sunmobile — the vehicle working only at solar energy. Reported about it in February, 2018 in the press service of the company.
The Kaspersky Lab which supported the project on creation of the first Russian SOL sunmobile will help to protect the innovation vehicle from cyberthreats and malware during the international competitions American Solar Challenge which will take place from July 6 to July 22 in the USA.
The sunmobile is created by college team of Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University of Polytech Solar Team. The solution Kaspersky Total Security is installed on all working computers and tablets by means of which the car and the systems of its management is developed.
Protection of the sunmobile from kiberguroz is especially important because its controller of telemetry in real time collects all parameters, necessary for management: speed, tension, current, temperature of the battery and solar panels, level of a charge of batteries.
During the American Solar Challenge championship all data should go on a specially allotted communication channel to the computers installed in the escort car. It is necessary in order that on the basis of the acquired information, considering the forecast of solar radiation and a land relief to calculate the optimal speed at which solar energy will be used most effectively. Data on a communication channel will back go to the pilot of the sunmobile which will have an opportunity to include a system a cruise control and to support speed in the necessary range.
2016
The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation gave support to the Polytech Solar project on creation of the first domestic electric vehicle on solar panels.
Denis Manturov expressed interest in the innovation vehicle during the working visit in November, 2016 to Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University based on which work on the project is conducted. According to the results of a meeting with developers of the sunmobile at an exhibition of achievements of the university, the letter signed by the Minister with a request was sent to the state and private companies under control of the Ministry to consider the possibility of rendering full support to the project.
The project team of "Polytech Solar" began work on creation of the sunmobile in May, 2016. The machine has the form of the catamaran body, its body is executed of composite materials of the Russian production. The car receives electrical energy from 4 sq.m. from the solar panels installed on a roof, KDP of panels – 24%. The weight of the sunmobile does not exceed 200 kg, maximum speed – 150 km/h. Besides, the electric vehicle will be equipped with a control system of management and carbon fiber disks of own development.
"Our command builds the unique sunmobile for participation in two largest world championships: "Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2017" in Australia and "American Solar Challenge 2018" in the USA. – the Polytech Solar project manager Evgeny Zakhlebayev reported - We will become the first command representing Russia in such competitions and we will actually open a new type of the passenger motor transport for our country".
