Rostelecom and the Administration of the Volgograd Region agreed to implement the Digital Region and Smart City projects

2021: Digital Region and Smart City Project Implementation Plan

Rostelecom and the administration of the Volgograd region signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation." Signatures on the document were appended by the president of PJSC Rostelecom Mikhail Oseevsky and the governor Volgograd oblastiandry Coopers. The parties agreed to implement the Digital Region and Smart City projects, as well as other joint initiatives aimed at increasing the availability of digital services for the population and legal entities of the Volgograd region, Rostelecom reported on June 3, 2021.

"The signing was preceded by large-scale work on the digitalization of state and commercial facilities in the Volgograd region, and this agreement takes our cooperation to the next level. We will unite and focus our efforts on the basic areas that ensure the activities of the entire region. I am sure that the implementation of the agreement will improve the investment climate of the Volgograd region and improve the quality of life of the region's population, "said Mikhail Oseevsky, president of Rostelecom PJSC.

"We have a good relationship with Rostelecom: over the past few years alone, we have implemented projects worth more than 5.5 billion rubles. And as part of the discussion of plans, we see that those projects that Rostelecom will implement in the Volgograd region are important for the population, especially during this difficult period, when digitalization issues come to the fore. We are interested in cooperation, and I am sure that the signed agreement will give us additional opportunities for the implementation of our projects, "said Andrei Bocharov, Governor of the Volgograd Region.

As of June, Rostelecom is modernizing the regional automated information and warning system for the population of the Volgograd region. The work will be completed at the end of 2021, then the national provider will ensure its operation until the end of 2024.

Among the large-scale projects implemented by Rostelecom together with the regional government are GIS Sistema formations of the Volgograd Region. The technological solution ensures the work in a single digital space of all educational institutions in the region, including schools, kindergartens, regional and municipal education committees, colleges and schools.

As part of the construction of the Smart City systems, the national provider modernized the lighting systems in the city of Mikhailovka. Electricity savings from introduced technologies in the municipality amounted to more than 70%, the company noted.

"This is only a small part of our projects in the Volgograd region. In the south of the country, we are systematically moving from Smart City to Digital Region, digitizing and integrating socially significant areas such as medicine, housing and communal services, security and many others on a single platform. Such centralization of digital processes increases their efficiency, reduces the costs of modernization and operation, and generally increases the economic efficiency of the regions, "said Sergey Mordasov, vice president and director of the South macro-regional branch of Rostelecom PJSC.

Rostelecom in the Volgograd region, as part of the federal program "Eliminating digital inequality," covered about 200 settlements with an amount of 250 to 500 people with optical infrastructure. Every year, the company in the region provides more than a thousand audiences with video surveillance during the exam. During the 2020 pandemic, Rostelecom organized call centers for 72 medical institutions in the Volgograd region. As of June 2021, almost 50% of households are covered by Rostelecom's optical infrastructure in the region.
